ABSTRACT

Equal-thickness screening is a critical part of mineral processing; recently, the multistage variable-inclination equal-thickness screen (MSVIETS) has been utilized in the mining industry across the world. In this work, a model of the collision mechanics between particles and the multistage variable-inclination screen surface was established. The maximum collision force (F max) was found to be closely related to amplitude, frequency, screen surface inclination, and number of stages. The time-frequency response characteristics of multistage (3-, 4-, and 5-STAGE) screen surfaces were studied by the vibration test analysis system. The permeation screen distribution law of grain groups on the screen surface was revealed. The obtained results show the best screening performance can be obtained from the 5-STAGE scheme with a screening efficiency of higher than 95% and total mismatch content of less than 2%. The synergistic mechanism between two of the parameters was revealed by Box-Behnken response surface methodology (BBRSM). Then, the correlation between the screening evaluation index and the multiple parameters was obtained, and the significant order of the parameters influencing the screening evaluation index was F t > f > n.

ABSTRACT

Efficient recycling of waste printed circuit boards by flotation has become a research focus. In this study, waste printed circuit boards were treated by alkaline immersion to enhance the flotation efficiency. Firstly, the SEM-EDS analysis of the crushed products shown that metal and nonmetal were completely liberated in the -0.25 mm fraction. When the printed circuit boards were modified by alkaline immersion, the recovery of metal increased from 64.34% to 72.35%. Further, the mixture of metal and nonmetal at the edge of nonmetal was discovered by EPMA. This was the cause of metal loss during the flotation process. Secondly, by adjusting the alkaline immersion time and pH value, a good flotation effect was achieved at 40 min alkaline immersion time and the pH = 11. Meanwhile, the XPS analysis of nonmetal found that the intensity of the OH peak was significantly enhanced, while the intensity of the O peak was evidently decreased. The change of the resin molecular structure indicated that the O linked to the benzene ring was broken under the action of alkaline immersion, resulting a free bond was generated on the benzene ring. This made the free OH adsorb to the free bond. This conduct promoted the dispersion of nonmetal in the slurry due to the increased nonmetal surface energy and metal hydrophilicity. Thus, this study provides a new route to improve the flotation efficiency of waste printed circuit boards.

ABSTRACT

In order to analyze the stiffness characteristics of Assembled Rubber Metal Isolator (ARMI) more accurately, the present work elaborates on the detailed numerical modeling and analysis process of the ARMI, considering prestressing condition. By comparing the applicability of different constitutive models, the reasonable parameters of the proposed Money-Revlon constitutive model were determined by rubber compression test and least square method. Considering the structural characteristics and complex constraints of the isolator, a step-by-step analysis method is described, based on the rigid-flexible coupling theory and the contact cutting algorithm. The full Newton-Raphson algorithm is used to simulate the mechanical behavior of elastic components in ARMI, during the whole compression-torsion deformation process, while the results are verified by theoretical calculation and practical experiments, respectively. For the assembly process, the maximum relative error between numerical results and empirical formulas is 3.97%. The derived torsional curve, under the simulated pre-stress conditions, is in good agreement with the experimental results, and the maximum error is less than 8.43%. The achieved accuracy is significantly improved, compared to the existing simulation model that does not consider the pre-compression process. The proposed approach provides an effective method for the analysis of same type vibration isolator.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Nontraumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (NONFH) is a debilitating disease that represents a significant financial burden for both individuals and healthcare systems. Despite its significance, however, its prevalence in the Chinese general population remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of NONFH and its associated risk factors in the Chinese population. METHODS: A nationally representative survey of 30,030 respondents was undertaken from June 2012 to August 2013. All participants underwent a questionnaire investigation, physical examination of hip, and bilateral hip joint X-ray and/or magnetic resonance imaging examination. Blood samples were taken after overnight fasting to test serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels. We then used multivariate logistic regression analysis to investigate the associations between various metabolic, demographic, and lifestyle-related variables and NONFH. RESULTS: NONFH was diagnosed in 218 subjects (0.725%) and the estimated NONFH cases were 8.12 million among Chinese people aged 15 years and over. The prevalence of NONFH was significantly higher in males than in females (1.02% vs. 0.51%, χ2 = 24.997, P < 0.001). Among NONFH patients, North residents were subjected to higher prevalence of NONFH than that of South residents (0.85% vs. 0.61%, χ 2 = 5.847, P = 0.016). Our multivariate regression analysis showed that high blood levels of triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and non-HDL-cholesterol, male, urban residence, family history of osteonecrosis of the femoral head, heavy smoking, alcohol abuse and glucocorticoid intake, overweight, and obesity were all significantly associated with an increased risk of NONFH. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings highlight that NONFH is a significant public health challenge in China and underscore the need for policy measures on the national level. Furthermore, NONFH shares a number of risk factors with atherosclerosis.
