ABSTRACT

In this paper, a multiple folded resonator is presented which consists of a multiple optical folding setup, a flat total reflector, a flat output coupler, a Q-switch crystal and a polarizer. By this technique, the output energy of 32.6mJ and pulse width of 13.4ns with a repetition rate of 5Hz was obtained, which is three times higher than that reported in the past publications by the use of the currently existing technique of the Q-switched slab gain lasers with the unstable resonator. The output beam with a quality of M² = 1.55 in the slow axis and M² = 1.40 in the fast axis was also obtained.

ABSTRACT

In the LD end pumped rectangular laser gain medium, the thermal induced refractive index is not only non-uniformly transversely, but also non-uniformly and distributed along the pumping beam propagation, the effect of thermal lens is a distributed not a lumped lens effect as previously considered. In this paper, the effect of a distributed thermal lens is analyzed.

ABSTRACT

The solid interface of different slopes plays a significant role in influencing focus range and image quality of liquid controllable optical lens. In this paper, based on the theoretical model of liquid optical lens, the spherical aberration of the liquid optical lens is calculated. It is found that the spherical aberration is different from the two opposite sides of liquid optical lens, and at the same voltage range, the smaller the cone angle of the solid interface is, the larger the optical aperture of liquid optical lens changes. The spherical aberration of liquid lens can be minimized when a proper voltage is applied and a proper solid interface slope is selected.
