ABSTRACT

Malignant tumor poses a threat to human health and life. The incidence and fatality rate of malignant tumor have been on the rise. The currently available therapies are radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which cause severe adverse reactions and irreversible damage and thus influence the quality of life of patients. Therefore, it is urgent to find new, safe and effective antitumor drugs. Chinese medicinals are safe with little adverse reactions and long-lasting effect in the treatment of tumor, which have attracted the attention of scholars. Amid the advancement of medical research, more and more anti-tumor components have been extracted from Chinese medicinals. Phellinus is a valuable Chinese medicinal material, and the chemical components mainly include polysaccharides, flavonoids, triterpenes, and polyphenols, which have anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, liver-protecting, and anti-tumor effect. The chemical components of Phellinus can inhibit various malignant tumors such as lung cancer, gastric cancer, colon cancer, and melanoma. It exerts the anti-tumor effect by inhibiting proliferation and metastasis of tumor cells, inducing apoptosis and autophagy of the cells, suppressing tumor angiogenesis, and regulating the immunity. In addition, it can enhance efficacy, reduce toxicity, and boost the sensitivity in the radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In this paper, articles were retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Web of Science, Pubmed, and Google Scholar with keywords such as "Phellinus, chemical components, and anti-tumor", and then the chemical components of Phellinus and the anti-tumor mechanisms were summarized. The findings are expected to lays a basis for further development and clinical application of this medicinal.

ABSTRACT

We have investigated the protective effect of polysaccharides from Curcuma kwangsiensis (CKP) against oxidative injury in rats fed high-fat diet. The protective effect of CKP was compared with Lovastatin, a well-known antioxidant. Sixty SD rats were used for the experimental study. Oxidative injury was induced by feeding high-fat diet for 3 weeks. The blood profiles, total cholesterol (TC), triacylglycerol (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) levels during experimental period were significantly increased in untreated model control group, whereas high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) levels and antioxidant enzymes activities significantly decreased in untreated model control group. The levels of TC, TG, LDL-c levels in CKP-treated rats were decreased significantly when compared to the untreated model control group, which were brought down to near normal in CKP-treated group. HDL-c level and antioxidant enzymes activities were found to be significantly increased in serum of CKP-treated group compared to the untreated model control group. The protective effect of CKP against oxidative injury was comparable to that of Lovastatin. Our data suggest that CKP exerts its protective effect by modulating the extent of lipid peroxidation and augmenting antioxidant defense system and thus protects the experimental animals against oxidative injury induced by high-fat diet treatment.

ABSTRACT

After the monoclonal antibody drug come out,it has played an important role in the clinical treatment, especially in tumor therapy. With the further understanding of monoclonal antibody,it has been applicated in the food, transgenic animal and plants, plant virology aspect. However, rare research of natural medicine have been reported in China. The monoclonal antibody-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method, which is sensitivity, accuracy, fastness and simpler, can be used in quantitative analysis of bioactive compound in the natural products. It also can be used in isolation and purify effective component of the natural medicine, the pharmacokintic study, the quanlity control, screening candidacate drug and expanding the resources of medicinal plant It is important to exploit and utilizate the natural medicine, and promote the progess of modern chinese medicine.
