ABSTRACT

The security of cryptocircuits is determined not only for their mathematical formulation, but for their physical implementation. The so-called fault injection attacks, where an attacker inserts faults during the operation of the cipher to obtain a malfunction to reveal secret information, pose a serious threat for security. These attacks are also used by designers as a vehicle to detect security flaws and then protect the circuits against these kinds of attacks. In this paper, two different attack methodologies are presented based on inserting faults through the clock signal or the control signal. The optimization of the attacks is evaluated under supply voltage and temperature variation, experimentally determining the feasibility through the evaluation of different Trivium versions in 90 nm ASIC technology implementations, also considering different routing alternatives. The results show that it is possible to inject effective faults with both methodologies, improving fault efficiency if the power supply voltage decreases, which requires only half the frequency of the short pulse inserted into the clock signal to obtain a fault. The clock signal modification methodology can be extended to other NLFSR-based cryptocircuits and the control signal-based methodology can be applied to both block and stream ciphers.

ABSTRACT

Breast milk is widely recognized as the best source of nutrition for both full term and premature babies. We aimed to identify clinical results of the implementation of a breast milk bank for premature infants under 37 weeks in a level III hospital. 722 neonates under 37 weeks, hospitalized in the Neonatal intensive care unit (ICU), who received human breast milk from the institution's milk bank 57% (n = 412) vs. mixed or artificial 32% (n = 229), at day 7 of life. An exploratory data analysis was carried out. Measures of central tendency and dispersion were used, strength of association of odds ratio (OR) and its confidence intervals (95% confidence interval (CI)). 88.5% had already received human milk before day 7 of life. Those who received human milk, due to their clinical condition, had 4 times a greater chance of being intubated (OR 4.05; 95% CI 1.80-9.11). Starting before day 7 of life decreases the opportunity to develop necrotizing enterocolitis by 82% (adjusted odds ratio (ORa) 0.18; 95% CI 0.03-0.97), intraventricular hemorrhage by 85% (ORa 0.15; 95% CI 0.06-0.45) and sepsis by 77% (ORa 0.23; 95% CI 0.15-0.33). Receiving human milk reduces the probability of complications related to prematurity, evidencing the importance that breast milk banks play in clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Resumen La rubeola es una enfermedad exantemática que se produce en la infancia. En caso de que se presente durante la gestación y hubiera afectación del producto, este puede desarrollar el síndrome de rubeola congénita, el cual incluye malformaciones cardiacas que se presentan en el 67% de los pacientes, de las cuales la más común es la persistencia del conducto arterioso, seguida de la estenosis valvular pulmonar y la comunicación interauricular. Se presenta el caso de un hombre de 20 años con diagnóstico de síndrome de rubeola congénita, quien desarrolló glaucoma congénito, insuficiencia aórtica grave, insuficiencia mitral grave y enfermedad miocárdica isquémica. Se realizó procedimiento quirúrgico de revascularización coronaria y recambio valvular mitral y aórtico. Los estudios encontrados durante el proceso de investigación mencionan el daño de los vasos sanguíneos y del miocardio producido por el virus. Con los datos obtenidos se corrobora la baja incidencia de presentación con compromiso coronario y valvular, por lo cual se hace énfasis en la importancia de este caso.


Abstract Rubella is an exanthematous disease that occurs in childhood. If it occurs during pregnancy and there is an effect on the product, it can develop congenital rubella syndrome. The congenital rubella syndrome includes cardiac malformations, which occur in 67% of patients, of which the most common is patent ductus arteriosus, followed by pulmonary valvular stenosis and atrial septal defect. We present the case of a 20-year-old man with a diagnosis of congenital rubella syndrome, presenting with congenital glaucoma, severe aortic insufficiency, severe mitral regurgitation and ischemic myocardial disease. In which a surgical procedure is performed by a coronary revascularization and mitral and aortic valve replacement. Studies found during the research process mention the damage to the blood vessels and myocardium produced by the virus. With the required data, the low incidence of presentation with coronary and valvular involvement is corroborated, which is why the importance of the present case is emphasized.

ABSTRACT

One of the best methods to improve the security of cryptographic systems used to exchange sensitive information is to attack them to find their vulnerabilities and to strengthen them in subsequent designs. Trivium stream cipher is one of the lightweight ciphers designed for security applications in the Internet of things (IoT). In this paper, we present a complete setup to attack ASIC implementations of Trivium which allows recovering the secret keys using the active non-invasive technique attack of clock manipulation, combined with Differential Fault Analysis (DFA) cryptanalysis. The attack system is able to inject effective transient faults into the Trivium in a clock cycle and sample the faulty output. Then, the internal state of the Trivium is recovered using the DFA cryptanalysis through the comparison between the correct and the faulty outputs. Finally, a backward version of Trivium was also designed to go back and get the secret keys from the initial internal states. The key recovery has been verified with numerous simulations data attacks and used with the experimental data obtained from the Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Trivium. The secret key of the Trivium were recovered experimentally in 100% of the attempts, considering a real scenario and minimum assumptions.

Introduction: The birth rate of late premature babies has been increasing in recent years, composing now 75% of all premature births. This growing trend can be explained by different demographic transformations such as an increase in the demand for infertility treatments, older maternal age and the higher incidence of multiple pregnancies, cesarean sections, and labor induction. These premature babies contribute 30% to the global neonatal mortality rate. Objective: To identify the factors associated with late prematurity at the Hospital Universitario del Valle during the years 2013-2014. Methodology: Case and control design, 424 patients, 212 cases and 212 controls participated. Cases were defined as newborns with gestational age between 34 and 36 weeks and 6 days old. For the analysis, logistic regression models were developed and association forces (OR) were determined. Results: A univariate analysis shows that the proportion of teenage pregnant women corresponds to 22.64%. Bivariate analysis shows the maternal morbidity due to hypertensive disorders was 1.6 times higher (95% CI 1.06-2.63), the obstetric alterations in 2.9 times (CI of 95% 1.56-5.44), late preterm infants require more oxygen support 3.26 times (95% CI 1.76-6.03). After adjusting the model, it was found that late premature infants have a 3-fold probability of requiring some resuscitation maneuver (ORa 3.23 95% CI 2.09-4.99), birth is higher by cesarean section by 4.17 times (ORa 4.17 IC 95% 2.50-6.98), maternal morbidity was higher in 1.37 times (ORa 1.37 95% CI 1.14-1.65). The morbidity of the newborn was greater, close to the statistical significance for late premature infants in 1.26 times (ORa 1.26 95% CI 0.97-1.64). Conclusions: Late premature births in this study show a higher probability of developing morbidity, have a greater opportunity to be born by cesarean section, are products of mothers with morbidity (specifically hypertensive disorders), and require further resuscitation with a need of early obstetric intervention.
