ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the effects of after-school tutoring for school-age children on their emotions and behaviors, and to provide a basis for developing after-school tutoring and psychological support strategies for school-age children. MethodsFour elementary schools in a district of Shanghai were selected by simple random sampling method. Whole group sampling was conducted by class, and parents of students were surveyed by general questionnaire and the scale of strengths and difficulties. Information was collected on the basic conditions of children and families and the results were compared and analyzed. ResultsThis study showed that 88.26% of children attended extracurricular classes, of which 26.16% attended 3 or more classes, 42.5% attended cultural classes, 28.3% attended sports classes, and 59.8% attended art classes. Children who did not attend classes had higher pro-social scores. Children who attended reading class had lower scores for emotional problems that was a protective factor for emotional problems. Children who chose extracurricular programs in sports and reading also had lower overall scores for difficulties. Excessive use of electronic devices by school-age children on weekdays or weekends had a negative effect on emotional and conduct problem scores regardless of whether they chose extracurricular programs. It appeared that the choice of cultural programs, art programs and different levels of exercise intensity had no effect on children's emotions and behaviors. ConclusionFor children with low pro-social level, extracurricular classes should be carefully selected. For extracurricular classes, more reading and sports-related courses can be considered, which have positive effects on school-age children’s emotions and behaviors. Regardless of the choice of extracurricular classes, try to avoid excessive online classes.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the latent classes of parental feeding behaviors in preschool children, and to examine the relationship between potential types of parental feeding behaviors and parental depression status. Methods:From May to July 2021, parents of preschoolers from eight kindergartens in Shanghai were recruited and investigated.A paper-based questionnaire consisting of the Chinese preschooler’s caregivers’ feeding behavior scale (CPCFBS) and the center for epidemiological studies depression scale (CESD-10) was employed. Finally, a total of 1 006 valid questionnaires were retrieved.Mplus 8.0 and SPSS 26.0 were used for statistical analysis. The latent class analysis was used to identify subgroups of parents based on their feeding practices.Multinomial Logistic regression was used to examine the relevant influencing factors. Results:The feeding behaviors of parental of preschool children could be divided into four potential categories: " high responsiveness and high non-responsiveness type" (24.55%), " low responsiveness and high non-responsiveness type" (27.44%), " high responsiveness and low non-responsiveness type" (28.33%) and " low responsiveness and low non-responsiveness type" (19.68%). The parents with depression status were less likely to be categorized as " high responsiveness and low non-responsiveness type" ( OR=0.386, 95% CI: 0.218-0.684). The parents with older children were more likely to be categorized as " low responsiveness and low non-responsiveness type" ( OR=1.318, 95% CI: 1.039-1.672). Conclusion:The feeding practices of parents of preschool children can be categorized into four latent classes. The parents with depression status are more likely to adopt non-responsive feeding practice than responsive feeding practice.Actively paying attention to and improving the depression status of parents may help the feeder to adopt scientific feeding behavior.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the intention to participate in health care in transitional children and adolescents with diabetes and analyze its influencing factors. Methods:This was a cross-sectional survey study. From March to October 2021, 185 children and adolescents with diabetes were selected as research subjects by convenience sampling method from People′s Hospital Affiliated to Jiangsu University. General data questionnaire, Participation in Health Care Intention Questionnaire, Health Literacy Scale and Diabetes Self-management Scale were used to investigate, and multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of the population′s intention to participate in health care. Results:The transitional children and adolescents with diabetes participation in health care intention total score was (124.87 ± 16.31) points, the health literacy total score was (33.70 ± 4.38) points, diabetes self-management total score was (35.11 ± 5.19) points. The regression analysis found that age, course of the disease, diabetes type, family structure modes, health literacy, and self-management ability were the main factors influencing adolescents involved in health care intention ( t values were -1.99-2.66, all P<0.05), including health literacy ability and disease management ability was positively correlated with the disease ( r = 0.250, 0.232, both P<0.01). Conclusions:The transitional children and adolenscents with diabetes have a medium level of intention to participate in health care. The transitional children and adolenscents with older age, longer disease course and nuclear family structure had higher levels of health care intention. The higher the level of health literacy and self-management, the higher the level of intention to participate in health care, medical staff should take targeted measures to improve the intention to participate in health care, promote this group to improve disease management ability and quality of life.

ABSTRACT

Clinically licensed COVID-19 vaccines ameliorate viral infection by inducing vaccinee production of neutralizing antibodies that bind to the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein to inhibit viral cellular entry (Walsh et al., 2020; Baden et al., 2021), however the clinical effectiveness of these vaccines is transitory as viral variants arise that escape antibody neutralization (Tregoning et al., 2021; Willett et al., 2022). Vaccines that solely rely upon a T cell response to combat viral infection could be transformational because they can be based on highly conserved short peptide epitopes that hold the potential for pan-variant immunity, but a mRNA-LNP T cell vaccine has not been shown to be sufficient for effective antiviral prophylaxis. Here we show that a mRNA-LNP vaccine based on highly conserved short peptide epitopes activates a CD8+ and CD4+ T cell response that prevents mortality in HLA-A*02:01 transgenic mice infected with the SARS-CoV-2 Beta variant of concern (B.1.351). In mice vaccinated with the T cell vaccine, 24% of the nucleated cells in lung were CD8+ T cells on day 7 post infection. This was 5.5 times more CD8+ T cell infiltration of the lungs in response to infection compared to the Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty(R) vaccine. Between days 2 and 7 post infection, the number of CD8+ T cells in the lung increased in mice vaccinated with the T cell vaccine and decreased in mice vaccinated with Comirnaty(R). The T cell vaccine did not produce neutralizing antibodies, and thus our results demonstrate that SARS-CoV-2 viral infection can be controlled by a T cell response alone. Our results suggest that further study is merited for pan-variant T cell vaccines, and that T cell vaccines may be relevant for individuals that cannot produce neutralizing antibodies or to help mitigate Long COVID.

ABSTRACT

The village with historical and cultural accumulation not only is the witness of the interaction between human activities and natural environment but also contains a lot of intangible cultural heritage. It is an important research object in the history of human social development and has great reference value for the construction of modern Humayun settlements. With the continuous change of modern rural landscape, the traditional engineering drawing cannot meet the needs of people for spatial information measurement. There are some problems such as slow drawing, low precision, and poor benefit, so computer drawing must be used. Therefore, this paper puts forward the research on rural landscape spatial information recording and protection based on 3D point cloud technology under the background of Internet of Things and realizes the recording of rural landscape spatial information through the construction of 3D point cloud spatial information recording model. The experimental results show that the improved unit point cloud spatial information recording model has better feature extraction effect and feature point extraction efficiency, and can classify the point cloud more carefully. At the same time, the scene 3D point cloud classification method based on conditional random field can better deal with the interference factors in the outdoor landscape and show a better classification effect.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo identify the appropriate definition, scope of application, the mechanism and the efficacy of the chin-down maneuver in aspiration reduction or prevention. MethodsLiteratures about chin-down published before July, 2021 were reviewed. ResultsA total of 13 articles were included. Chin-down refered to the action of bending the neck and leaning the chin as far as possible toward the chest. Chin-down maneuver could change the position and pressure of the pharyngeal structure to guide the food safely into the esophagus, to prevent or reduce aspiration. Chin-down maneuver was effctive on dysphagia caused by insufficient laryngeal elevation, delayed pharyngeal reflex, epiglottal defect, lychee cartilage defect, and glottis closure defect. However, this action worked in patients with premature overflow of food clumps, weak pharyngeal contraction muscle strength, and poor oral preservation. ConclusionChin-down maneuver is beneficial to aspiration dysphagia after dysphagia.

ABSTRACT

New strains of SARS-CoV-2 have emerged, including B.1.351 and P.1, that demonstrate increased transmissibility and the potential of rendering current SARS-CoV-2 vaccines less effective. A concern is that existing SARS-CoV-2 spike subunit vaccines produce neutralizing antibodies to three dimensional spike epitopes that are subject to change during viral drift. Here we provide an initial report on the hypothesis that adaptive T cell based immunity may provide a path for a pan-COVID-19 vaccine that is resilient to viral drift. T cell based adaptive immunity can be based on short peptide sequences selected from the viral proteome that are less subject to drift, and can utilize multiple such epitopes to provide redundancy in the event of drift. We find that SARS-CoV-2 peptides contained in a mRNA-LNP T cell vaccine for SARS-CoV-2 are immunogenic in mice transgenic for the human HLA-A*02:01 gene. We plan to test the efficacy of this vaccine with SARS-CoV-2 B.1.351 challenge trials with HLA-A*02:01 mice.

ABSTRACT

Objectives@#To establish a geographic information application system for analyzing the spatial and temporal distribution of major infectious diseases in various regions of the world and to assess the risk of importation of those diseases, to China.@*Methods@#We collected and integrated the following information on: 1) outbreaks and areas of epidemics of major infectious diseases in the world from 2000 to 2017, 2) cases of infectious diseases in arriving travelers through active surveillance at international entry-exit ports in mainland China from 2014 to 2016, 3) numbers of annual global international flights and travelers in the country. With the above information, a global space-time distribution database on major infectious diseases was then established, using the technology related to the system. Models regarding technologies on time-space analysis, probabilistic risk assessment and geographic information visualization, were applied to establish a geographic information system on risk assessment of infectious diseases that imported to China.@*Results@#Through integration of information on outbreaks and epidemic areas of 60 major infectious diseases in 220 countries and regions around the world, as well as 42 kinds of infectious diseases identified among the international arrivals in mainland China, a system was then developed. Information on the distribution of major infectious diseases and their potential risks in the worldwide various regions, characteristics of spectrum and disease burden of infectious diseases imported to each province of mainland China were displayed. Thus, risks on importing infectious diseases in each province via air way were able to be evaluated and simulated by the probabilistic risk assessment model, under the information on specific kind of infectious disease, outside China.@*Conclusion@#Geographic Information System on Risk Assessment Regarding Infectious Diseases Imported to China provides basic data for epidemiological reconnaissance and assessment on risks of importing infectious diseases outside China, thus would be helpful for the improvement of strategies on surveillance, prevention and control regarding the importing infectious diseases, in China.

ABSTRACT

Almost 3% of newborns are diagnosed as small for gestational age(SGA)worldwide.Born SGA is one of the important causes of perinatal morbidity and mortality, and is also associated with metabolic diseases in adulthood.Low birth weight by itself is insufficient to characterize growth restriction,as it does not include information about the neonate’s body proportionality.Depending on the origin, timing and severity of in-sult,small for gestational age infants are classified into two types:proportionate or symmetric growth restriction (SGR)and disproportionate or asymmetric growth restriction(AGR).There may be differences in physical and neurological development of these two types. This study compares three classification indexes, and to find differ-ences in postnatal growth of these two types.

ABSTRACT

A novel water-soluble macromolecule heavy metal flocculant mercaptoacetyl polyethyleneimine (MAPEI) was synthesized by reacting polyethyleneimine (PEI) with thioglycolic acid (TGA). The removal of mercury ions (Hg2+) and turbidity from aqueous solutions by MAPEI was investigated. The MAPEI is efficient for the simultaneous removal of Hg2+ and turbidity. The highest removal ratio of mercury ions was above 95%. Factors were studied that could affect the process, such as pH, molecular weight of PEI, co-existing ions, and so on, and the results show that, with the increase in pH or molecular weight of PEI, the removal rate increases; alkali metal and alkaline-earth metal ions and chloride ions (Cl-) and nitrate (NO3-) ions can promote the removal of Hg2+, while sulfate (SO4(2-)) suppresses the process. In the process of treating wastewater containing both turbidity and mercury ions, both have a synergic removal effect with each other. Compared with TGA, MAPEI shows obvious advantages, including higher removal efficiency, larger flocs, and higher floc sedimentation velocity. In addition, compared with PEI, both PEI and MAPEI are almost equally not efficient for turbidity removal, but the presence of mercury ions can improve greatly the efficiency of MAPEI in the removal of turbidity.
