ABSTRACT

Parametral cavity drainage was performed by the Penrose method after Wertheim's operation. In 14.4% of the patients inflammations were observed. After the introduction of extraperitoneal transabdominal vacuum drainage, the percentage of such complications decreased to 5%. In the previously performed transurethral urinary bladder drainage, the authors found uroinfections in 42.6% of the operated patients, whereas following the suprapubic drainage, urine samples remained bacteriologically clear, with less than 100,000 germs per 1 ml. In only one patient with suprapubic drainage, salt accumulated on the catheter, requiring removal by means of surgery cystoscope.

ABSTRACT

Undesirable effects were investigated in 116 women with the intrauterine contraceptive device Intragal inserted after artificial abortion. A total of 2351 exposed cycles were analysed. There were, per 1000 exposed cycles, 3.1 pregnancies, 6.6 spontaneous expulsions, and 4.1 device removals because of bleeding. No inflammation process requiring device removal was recorded.

ABSTRACT

A total of 783 women aged 41-50 were examined in the Out-Patient Clinic in Novi Sad in the period from 1975-1987 due to prolonged uterine bleeding and the explorative curettage was performed in 12 (7%) of them. The most frequent histopathologic results were as follows: hiperplasio glandularis endometrii simplex in 25 (22.3%), hyperplasio glandularis cystica endometrii in 17 (15.7%), hyperplasio adenomatoides endometrii in 12 (10.7%), endometritis chronica in 18 (16%), phasis secretionis endometrii in 7 (6.2%), phasis proliferationis endometrii in 3 (2.6%), endometritis acuta non specifica post graviditates in 5 (4.4%), residua decidualis necrotica cum charione in 8 (7.1%), mola hydatidosa in 1 (0.9%), polypus endometrialis in 3 (2.6%), and adenocarcinoma endometrialis in 3 (2.6%). Uterine bleeding is a very frequent appearance in women's premenopausal period and apart from gynecologic survey it also necessitates the application of diagnostic methods and interventions such as the curretman's histologic investigation intended for the detection of pathologic changes in the endometrium.

ABSTRACT

In the framework of the "Integrated program for the prevention and control of uncommunicable diseases (CINDI) which has been launched in the collaboration with the World Health Organization at the Health Centre "Novi Sad", a total of 400 women aged 16-60 have been comprised by the mass screening in the village of Stepanovicevo with 2083 inhabitants who are mainly agricultural workers out of whom women account for 48.41%. This paper is aimed at gaining an insight into the kind and frequency of individual gynecologic diseases and circumstances which influence the psychophysical state of the woman, her working and reproductive capability in the rural environment, the parity, number of abortions, the use of contraceptive devices and the differences in morbidity between the village of Stepanovicevo and the city of Novi Sad. According to the results obtained it is pointed out that the percent of women affected by the following diseases has been considerably increased: pathologic changes on the cervix uteri, inflammatory diseases on adnexes, myoma uteri and benign changes in the breast. This high percent could be explained by the absence of the gynecologic service in the village of Stepanovicevo and women's ignorance of health culture for temporary check-ups.
