ABSTRACT

Clinical evidence obtained on efficacy of a new long-acting theophylline ventax in chronic obstructive bronchitis demonstrates that it has advantages over theophylline, produces positive changes in the patients' external respiration, dyspnea severity, auscultatory parameters, subjective response, is well tolerated and highly effective against chronic obstructive bronchitis. Side effects of ventax are outlined.

ABSTRACT

Adjuvant endovascular irradiation of blood with He-Ne laser was used in addition to conventional treatment for bacterial asthma. Out of 48 asthmatics, 16 had a mild disease, 21 moderate, 11 severe forms. The course of treatment included 8-10 daily sessions lasting 30 minutes. A marked clinical response was achieved in 41 patients. The cessation of the asphyxia attacks in them allowed discontinuation or reduction of glucocorticoids administration. The duration of the exacerbations became shorter. The irradiation also stimulated the blood antioxidant system.

ABSTRACT

Among new non-medicamentous treatment methods, endovascular blood radiation with helium-neon laser (HNL) merits attention. The method turned out highly effective, which made it possible to reduce the maintenance doses of glucocorticosteroids, to increase the times of remission, and to restore work fitness. HNL was found to exert a stimulating effect on the blood antioxidant system.
