ABSTRACT

Nineteen patients with active SLE and a control group of 20 healthy persons were investigated. We have made to all of them 99mTcDTPA-aerosol scintigraphy and the following pulmonary functional tests--Dc CO, Dm, Vc, HRCT. Accelerated clearance of 99mTcDTPA was found in all patients with active SLE. The half-elimination time T1/2 was shortened and varied between 22.6 +/- 4.7 min for the right one. It wasn't established correlative dependence between 99mTcDTPA and the pulmonary functional tests. In 36.8% of the patients HRCT was normal, while 99mTcDTPA clearance was accelerated. This fact shows, that 99mTcDTPA-aerozsol scintigraphy is more sensitive method for early diagnosis of pulmonary changes, than the pulmonary functional tests and HRCT.

ABSTRACT

Pulmonary ventilation and perfusion on regional level was measured by determining the distribution and elimination of introduced by inhalation 133He-gas, accordingly of intravenously injected 133He-solution. Fifty seven patients 7 to 60 years of age were included in the study, distributed by diagnoses, as follows: pulmonary thromboembolism 24 patients, 16 children with recurrent bronchopneumonia, pneumonia 10, central lung cancer 4, lung echinococcus 2 and one patient with LTE associated with chronic obstructive lung disease. All had ventilatory and subsequent perfusion dynamic scintigraphy. Ventilation was measured by the single breath technique. Perfusion scintigraphy was performed by the foregoing scheme, but by intravenous injection of 133He-solution. The entry, distribution and elimination of 133He-solution. The entry, distribution and elimination of 133He-gas and accordingly 133He-solution were followed up on gamma-camera display, and the time of radioactive gas elimination from the lungs was determined. Being practicable and nontraumatic, ventilation and perfusion scintigraphy may be repeated several times. This fact helps to follow up the evolution of the disease and the effect of conservative or surgical treatment. The results give an idea of the topographic and functional diagnosis of lung diseases.

ABSTRACT

In addition to the conventional indices of radionuclide angiography with ECG-gait in equilibrium, the authors determined the volume indices of the left ventricle at rest by the so-called nongeometric method in 30 patients with ischemic heart disease. Patients without myocardial infarct (13 subjects) had decreased total left-ventricular ejection fraction (EF), as a result of increase in the end systolic volume index (ESVI) in one of the tested patients. Changes in the regional fractions and in the wall kinetics were detected in 6, resp. in 8 patients. Patients with myocardial infarct--13 subjects--had decreased total left ventricular EF, as a result increased ESVI in 4 patients. Disturbances in the regional fraction and in the wall kinetics had 9 patients. Estimated for the whole group, the mean ESVI level was significantly higher than in the former group of patients. Patients with postinfarction aneurysm, in addition to the marked decrease of the total left ventricular EF, had increased and-systolic and diastolic volume index, which in some of the patients was associated with reduced stroke volume index. The minute flow levels were significantly lower than in the former two groups. Determination of the volume indices is an important supplement to the efforts to gain precise information on the functional state of the left ventricle and for evaluation of the hemodynamics and of the effect of complications which occur with the advancing of the ischemic heart disease.
