ABSTRACT

Variation criteria--variation coefficient, Fisher criterion (F-value) and suggested by the authors index of homeostasis--enable to evaluate completely the state of occupational crews and reveal their compensated disadaptation. Administration of adaptogens (such as oxymethacil) is expedient for correction of premorbid conditions in occupational crews. Increased aboriginality and random selection during occupational activities considerably better adaptational characteristics of the occupational crews.

ABSTRACT

Low amounts of immunoglobulins of different classes may be measured by the red cell agglutination inhibition test with the red cells conjugated with the respective blood serum IgG and IgM and colostrum IgA isotypes. A feedback between IgM and IgG levels was detected in extracts of the tissues adjacent to the focus of inflammation during the necrotic phase of the process, whereas during the exudative phase the IgG/IgM ratio grows, probably at the expense of the IgM-IgG change over during lymphocyte maturation.

ABSTRACT

A simple procedure is described for isolation of highly purified staphylococcal alpha-toxin (SAT) by means of sorption on macroporous glass beads and gel filtration. Various conditions were tested of affinity immunosorption of antibodies and SAT. Highly-porous polyacrylamide gel activated by glutaraldehyde was found as a readily available and selective immunosorbent. The immobilized antigen was stabilized using reduction of azomethyne bonds. Specific activity of antibodies was elevated as the SAT purification degree increased. Correlation between antihemolytic and antilethal activities was unaltered during the immunochemical purification of antibodies.

ABSTRACT

Immunochemically pure tetanus antitoxin obtained from enzyme-treated horse serum is less reactogenic and anaphylactogenic and possesses higher therapeutic properties than antitoxin purified by nonspecific physico-chemical methods and containing ballast antigens. Due to its increased persistence in the recipient's body, the immunochemically pure antitoxin induces passive immunity in considerably lower doses than the preparations purified by the method "Diaferm-3".

ABSTRACT

The treatment of experimental tetanus intoxication in 120 rabbits by the intrathecal injection of antitoxins revealed that the therapeutic effect was directly proportional to the dose of antitoxins, expressed in antitoxic units. The maximum effect (the survival rate 78.6%) was obtained by the injection of antitoxins purified on immunoadsorbents and containing no admixtures. The use of such antitoxins ensured the absence of postinjection complications, while commercial antitetanus serum "Diaferm-3" gave only 16.7% survival rate and produced the equal percentage of postinjection complications.

ABSTRACT

By immune chromatography fractions with various reaction rates of antigen precipitation and neutralization of toxin "in vivo" have been isolated from a common pool of antibodies. Antibodies of higher pI possessed an elevated relation of basis amino acid residues to unsubstituted dicarboxylic residues as well as greater affinity. The data suggest an important role of ion interaction and a general scheme of antigen and antibody molecules structure for immune reactions.
