ABSTRACT

The pathogenesis of angiopathic complications was studied in rabbits with alloxan diabetes treated with insulin. The latter was found to affect lipid peroxidation, while the levels of glycosylated proteins remained increased in the aortic wall and red blood cells. It is concluded that enhanced nonenzymatic protein glycosylation in a patient with diabetes mellitus may be one of the factors predisposing to angiopathic complications in diabetes mellitus, irrespective of insulin therapy.

ABSTRACT

In the animal experiment the sensitivity to acetylcholine was shown to increase in alloxan-induced hypoinsulinemia. The blockade of M-cholinoreactive structure produced by administration of amizil caused a deterioration of the condition of the animals with alloxan-induced diabetes. The increased sensitivity to acetylcholine was accompanied by changes in the activity of acetylcholine esterase in the hypothalamus nuclei.

ABSTRACT

Activation of the hormonal link of the sympathico-adrenal system, reorganization in the organs of adrenoreception, and redistribution of monoamine oxidase activity are evidently directed towards creation of a definite substrate-hormonal background necessary for correcting hypoinsulinemia.

ABSTRACT

The adrenergic section of the vegetative pancreatic innervation has been examined, using morphological, histochemical and biochemical methods, during neurogenic injury, acute experimental pancreatitis and alloxan diabetes. It has been established that the development of those etiologically different processes was accompanied by catecholamine level reduction in the adrenergic structures of the pancreas which can be prevented by ganglioblockers. It is concluded that sympathetic nervous system participates in etiopathogenesis of a number of pancreatic diseases and that it is possible to prevent and treat them with sympathotropic agents.

ABSTRACT

The role of adrenal cortex hormones in the development of vascular changes was studied in 16 rabbits with alloxan diabetes. Formation of morphological changes in the aorta proved to be partially determined by functional condition of the adrenal cortex at the early periods of alloxan diabetes.
