ABSTRACT

METHODS: A rare case of 16 years old boy with rabdomyosarcoma of the penis is presented. RESULTS: The patient was treated with subtotal local excision of the tumor. The treatment was continued with chemotherapy courses. The tumor was histologically verified and immunohistochemically with specifical anti-mussule antibodies. Other cases from world literature are reviewed.

ABSTRACT

Amyloidosis is a systemic disease which affects a variety of body organs and systems, and is characterized with the deposition of hyalin, eosinophilic, protein-like material in the tissues. Primary amyloidosis of the urinary tract is an extremely rare localization and every published case report represents interest. The authors present a rare case of primary localized amyloidosis of the bladder, which mimics itself as a neoplastic formation and imposes significant diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties. The correct therapeutic approach and the exact histopathologic diagnosis has enabled us to preserve the bladder of the patient and to achieve optimal therapeutic results.

ABSTRACT

A case of a 71-year-old man with dyspnea attacks, weight loss and astheno-adynamia syndrome is presented. A 7.7 x 6.4 cm well-delineated tumor is found intraoperatively in the superior lobe of the left lung towards the posterior mediastinum. The tumor cells resemble hepatocytes histologically and show expression for alpha-fetoprotein. Diagnosis primary hepatoid lung adenocarcinoma is made. Pericellular basal membrane-like material is found on electron microscopy. A clinico-morphological discussion regarding the biological behavior and prognosis of this rare tumor is presented.

ABSTRACT

A case of a woman with a hereditary angioedema in combination with chronic renal failure is presented. The chronic renal failure is a late consequence of complications which had occurred in the course of a difficult parturition. The difficult parturition was probably the result of an expressed edema of the vaginal wall. The therapeutic difficulties in this case are pointed out.

ABSTRACT

A potentiometric method for the determination of impurities in pharmaceuticals with acid-base behaviour is proposed. Based on proton balance condition, appropriate equations for the treatment of the data are derived. The latter in combination with Gran's equations allow the determination of acid-base impurities in pharmaceuticals--weak protolytes. The proposed method is quick, accurate and precise. It is suitable both for technical control and for analyses according to the pharmacopoeias.
