ABSTRACT

Medical-psychological problems are of great importance in dental practice. The paper presents an overview on the ways of establishing the dentist-patient-relationship, on the perception of pain and anxiety, the influence of the dentist in this respect, the information process and psychological preparation for surgery. A thorough intervention-oriented consideration of the psychological factors involved will lead to a further improvement of quality and effectiveness in dentistry.

ABSTRACT

Using the multi-moment recording technique, the authors examined in 23 dentists from territorial health services the frequency of certain postures and attitudes during working time as related to working procedure. It was stated that in case of the conventional standing dentistry the dentists assume a forced attitude in 37.7% of working time. On contrast, the values found for dentists practising almost exclusively sit-down dentistry were considerably more favourable (4.2% of working time). The results are discussed, and relevant conclusions are drawn.

ABSTRACT

339 Evicrol fillings were clinically re-examined 0,52 to 2 years after insertion. The comparison of the results obtained with those from silicate cement fillings (Hildisch) evidenced that the properties of Evicrol are better. In assessing Evicrol for a prolonged period, special attention must be paid to the higher percentage (18--33%) of discolourations appearing already within 1--2 years.
