ABSTRACT

Length of uterus, anterior-posterior and cross diameter in 105 healthy and 101 diabetic girls at the age from 9 to 20 years determined by ultrasound. Length of uterus and its calculated volume are correlated to age and Tanner classification, in order to conceive in a reproducable way the development of uterus in puberty. In both groups a clear push of growth occurs about the time of menarche. The diabetic girls showed a slight delay of uterus development, which is adjusted, however, at the end of puberty (Tanner IV and V).

ABSTRACT

The development of ovarian follicles was observed by ultrasound in 10 patients with the normal menstrual cycle and 10 patients with hormonally stimulated ovulation. In 2 of the patients with the normal cycle the diameter of the follicles was less than 2 cm. They had no ovulation. In the patients with the stimulated ovulation the follicular growth was significantly more regular and 2 of them conceived.

ABSTRACT

10 patients with normal cyclus, 22 patients with FSH/HCG stimulated cyclus and 15 patients previous to laparoscopic puncture underwent ultrasound examination of follicle growth. The results were good reproducible. Ultrasonic examination of growing follicle should be done established continuously in cases of hormonal stimulation before laparoscopical puncture with regard to extracorporal fertilisation.

ABSTRACT

The use of sonography in gynecology, including the examination of the small pelvis and the breast, adds a further dimension to this diagnostic method. Along with the diagnosis of tumours, an important role is played also by functional diagnosis which covers almost all fields of gynecology (urology, sterility). The range of the possible use of sonography and indications are presented. Ultrasonography has an additional role in the exploration of the small pelvis, but it can also replace classical diagnostic procedures and radiological examinations. In view of its advantages and possibilities, this method (real time scan technique) should find a wide use in gynecology.

ABSTRACT

Reported in this paper is experience obtained from combined use of ultrasonography and mammography in the diagnosis of cystic mammary tumours. In any case of diagnosis, roentgen-mammography should be preceded by ultrasonic mammography. The latter should even replace roentgen-mammography for representation of cystic tumours. Indications are suggested.
