ABSTRACT

PIP: Most infections occurring after an interruption of pregnancy (IP) are not due to the physician's negligence but rather to the patient's failure to follow treatment guidelines at home, especially their sexual activity and hygiene. The causes of secondary sterility were most often found to be parametritis with adnexitide or adnexitis on 1 or both sides. In a smaller percentage of cases there occurred salpingitis, cervicitis, colpitis, endometritis, and even pelveoperitonitis. It is not only infections that can cause sterility but disorders of the menstrual cycle (hypermenorrhagy, amenorrhagy) as well. The onset and the intensity of infection after IP is definitely dependent on the technique of the actual operation, the length of hospitalization, care at home after release from the hospital, and on the month of pregnancy when IP was performed.^ieng
