ABSTRACT

Common white rats were used in the study of potassium bichromate (PB) influence and paranasal sinuses mucosae. Single 2-10 PB endonasal introductions were performed on hemostatic collagenic sponge and on paraffin. PB revealed ability in significant causing chronic atrophic rhinosinusitis , and demonstrated weak carcinogenic properties through the induction of some nasal tumours after a prolonged contact of the nasal mucosa with the substance.

ABSTRACT

The data obtained with the use of microspectrophotometric studies of nuclear DNA in the process of induction and development of epithelial tumours of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses in albino mongrel rats are analyzed. Exponential increase of the DNA accumulation index in the process of neoplasm induction is observed. A jump-like increase of the DNA accumulation index with relatively uniform values is established in the normal tissues, then in the metaplastic and dysplastic epithelia and in benign tumours as well as in the malignant tumours.

ABSTRACT

A rare variant of embryonal nephroma in a man of 18 is described. Epithelial and mesodermal components were markedly distinctive in the tumour. The epithelial part of the tumour was represented by tubules resembling renal tubules, and glomerulo-like structures, and the mesodermal part consisted of cross-striated muscles, edematous connective tissue and osteoid substance.
