ABSTRACT

Medico-biological requirements for the chemical composition of specialized products (mixtures) with high content of carbohydrates have been considered. The mixtures are intended for creation of energy reserves and acceleration of restoration processes in persons who were subjected to high physical and neuro-emotional stresses. The chemical composition and fatty-acid content of the high-carbohydrate nutritional mixture are presented.

ABSTRACT

Actual nutrition of bicyclists engaged in road cycle race was analyzed at different stages of their training (at sport camps) and during contests. The effectiveness of special carbohydrate and protein products on certain parameters of metabolism in the athletes was studied. It was found that such special products favourably affect the parameters of protein, electrolyte metabolism, health state and working capacity of the athletes. In the athletes who received special products a tendency was observed to intensified anabolic processes in nitrogen metabolism, acceleration of redox processes, and stabilization of blood glucose level during intensive physical loads.

ABSTRACT

The method of long-time protein electrophoresis in a gradient polyacrylamide gel with a linear change of acrylamide concentration along the gel column was used to determine the molecular mass of protein molecules and their geometric sizes. In our investigation great attention was paid to the determination of the molecular form by the peak width in densitograms of protein fractions. Besides experimental data a possible physical interpretation of the essense of empiric equation is suggested.

ABSTRACT

A nomograph is suggested using which one can determine from the molecular weight and one of the dimensions of the molecule the remaining dimension and the axial ratio for the ellipsoid of rotation with the volume equivalent to the volume of the protein molecule. The nomograph permits to determine molecular weight from the molecular size of the dry protein and of the protein dissolved in water. From the molecular size of the dry protein corresponding dimensions for the protein molecule in an aqueous solution can be obtained. At last the nomograph can help to evaluate the correctness of the literature data and experimental data on the molecular sizes of proteins and on their molecular weights.

ABSTRACT

Estimation of molecular weights of the glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) multiple forms was carried out by the method of extended electrophoresis (within 24 hrs) in polyacrylamide gel with linear gradient of concentration (from 3.5% to 30%). Proceeding from the variations in molecular weight, the multiple forms of G6PD, found in liver tissue and adrenal glands, might be apparently classified as two types, designated as alpha-G6PD and beta-G6PD. The possible reasons are discussed for the existence of two types of G6PD in the one organ.

ABSTRACT

Experiments were conducted on Wistar rats. A study was made of the heterogeneity of 3beta-oxysteroiddehydrogenase (3beta-olDH) of the adrenal glands, the intracellular distribution of its multiple forms and the change of their activity in prolonged (for 3 months) keeping of the animals on a diet devoid of vitamin A. Four 3 beta-olDH fractions were revealed by the method of electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gel in the rat adrenal glands. The principal activity of 3 beta-olDH (68%) was revealed in the endoplasmic reticulum, and only 14%--in the mitochondrial-lysosomal fraction. Hypovitamonsis A caused a reduction of the 3 beta-olDH activity of the adrenal glands, chiefly on account of the 3 beta-olDH-2 fraction.

ABSTRACT

Subject to study was the influence exercised by the excess of a number of vitamins in the diet (thiamine, ascorbic acid, cyanocolbalamine, riboflavin and pyridoxine) on the spastic susceptibility of the organism under the effect of a strong sonic stimulant. Pyridoxine exerted a noticeable protective influence on audiogenic convulsions. Its protective effect increased with its combined application with riboflavin, succinate and glutamic acid. The possible mechanism of action of the studied vitamins and of their combinations with glutamic acid and succinate on the spastic susceptibility of the organism is discussed in the paper.

ABSTRACT

The effect of some amino acids, succinate and different doses of ACTH on the convulsion response readiness of the organism under the action of a strong sound stimulant was studied. With enrichment of the ration with glutamic acid and also following a parenteral introduction of large doses of succinate a definite protective effect was revealed and, conversely, administration of ACTH (intramuscularly, for 7 day in a dose of 5 Units per 100 g of body weight) increased the convulsion response readiness of the organism. A possible mechanism underlying the detected changes in the convulsion response readiness of the organism under the active factors under study are discussed.
