ABSTRACT
Nuclear spectroscopy experiments were performed for 100g metallic uranium rod enriched to 93% (235)U, in order to establish and characterize the most prominent γ-rays in the natural decay series and photofission reaction. Single γ-ray spectra and γ-γ coincidences measurements were conducted before irradiation. The uranium sample was subsequently irradiated with 15 MeV bremsstrahlung photons. Relative intensities of γ-lines and several values of half-lives of the fission fragments decays were determined. The obtained information can be utilized in detection of smuggled nuclear materials and characterization of bulky nuclear waste packages.

We present three examples of anti-Fy3 produced by Negroes. Results of serologic studies were similar to those of previously reported examples of Negro produced anti-Fy3, including negative to weak reactivity with cord red blood cells, separable anti-Fya, and the presence of multiple unexpected alloantibodies. These findings reinforce the difference between anti-Fy3 produced by Negroes and that produced by non-Negroes. The rare formation of Duffy antibodies by Negroes may signify the presence of an amorphic gene at the Duffy locus.

Disseminated infection caused by Herpes simplex virus (HSV) type I is described in a previously healthy adult. The clinical course was characterized by progressive hepatic failure, fever, hypotension, atypical lymphocytosis, and disseminated intravascular coagulation. No skin lesions were present and the causal agent was not suspended premortem; however, HSV-I was isolated from autopsy liver, and characteristic histopathological lesions of herpes infection were observed in liver and esophagus.
