ABSTRACT

It was demonstrated experimentally that aminazine, phentolamine, nuredal, sapilent, teperin, dopegyt improved significantly the health status of animals exposed to high temperature and in many cases prevented their death. This gives evidence that the sympathetic nervous system plays a leading role in heat stroke and that sympathotrophic drugs can be used for protective purpose during acute overheating.

ABSTRACT

The experiments on rats demonstrated that barbamyl, aminazine, seduxen, haloperidol, apressin, phentolamine, inderal, dopegit, amizil prevent to a large extent the development of morphological and biochemical manifestations in the body of animals during long-term immobilization.

ABSTRACT

Thirty-three experiments were made on mongrel dogs operated on according to Basov, with the use of phentolamine, pilocarpine, atropine, histamine and their combinations. It was established that administration of histamine gives rise to an increase in gastric secretion, provided the animals are pretreated with phentolamine or with combined pilocarpine and phentolamine. Histamine-induced gastric secretion considerably decreases, provided the animals are pretreated with atropine and ceases almost completely after administration of combined atropine and phentolamine. It is concluded that the stimulating effect of phentolamine on gastric secretion is caused by an increase in the sensitivity of H2-receptors and cholinoreceptors under blockade of the alpha-adrenoreactive systems.

ABSTRACT

Experiments on white rats were made to study the actions of aminazine, haloperidol, nitrazepam, barbamyl and other substances on the acid-base equilibrium, the blood content of lactic acid, sugar, urea, ATP and nonesterified fatty acids under acoustic stress. All the substances under study were discovered to normalize, to one/or another degree, the glycolytic and energy-forming processes in the body, which were markedly altered as a result of exposure to acoustic stress.

ABSTRACT

The experiments were carried out on 349 white rats weighing 150-200 g that were exposed to the stress effect of 130 dB sound. Drugs were injected subcutaneously an hour before the animals were placed into a sound chamber. In this situation the following drugs proved to be most effective sound protectors; barbamyl, seduxen, aminazin, galoperidol, chloroprotixen, apressin, phentolamine, inderal and dopegyt.

ABSTRACT

The effects of phentolamine and propranolol in doses 2.5 mg/kg on histamine gastric secretion were examined in dogs operated on according to the V. A. Basov's method. It was ascertained that phentolamine raised the secretion rate by 2.6 times, the hourly output of hydrochloric acid by 4.4 times, secretion of pepsin and chlorides by 2.5 times. Propranolol did not affect gastric secretion. Administration of phentolamine in a dose of 0.025 mg/kg three times a day for 10 days ta patients with a moderately pronounced atrophic gastritis increased the secretion rate and pepsin secretion by 1.8 times. The hourly output of hydrochloric acid rose by 2.8 times.

ABSTRACT

The effect of drugs on the development of excitation, thermal shock and animal survival was studied. The alpha-adrenoblockers aminazin and phentolamine, the sympatholytic dopegit, and antidepressants sapilent, teperin and nuredal prolonged the time of the onset of excitation and thermal shock, and prevented the animals' death in 50-87% of experiments. It is assumed that the sympathetic nervous system plays the leading role in the development of thermal shock. Aminazin, dopegit, sapilent, teperin and nuredal can be recommended as protectors on body exposure to high temperatures.

ABSTRACT

In tests with vigilant immobilized and also urethan anesthetized rabbits the influence of intravenous injection of phentolamine (3--10 mg/kg) on the EEG waves parameters was studied. It is shown that within 45 to 75 minutes following introduction of phentolamine there is observed either shortening or elimination of the EEG activation reaction in response to stimulation of the sciatic nerve. The blocking effect of the intravenous administration of phentolamine is noted also by following dynamic changes in the discharge activity of single neurons.
