ABSTRACT

Effect of various cultivation conditions and lignin preparations on the enzymes of ligninolytic enzyme complex of white-rot fungus Pleurotus floridae has been studied. The maximal Mn-peroxidase activity was revealed in the medium with low nitrogen content (1.2 mM); maximal values of cellobiose quinone oxidoreductase activity were observed in the media with high nitrogen content (7.2 mM); maximal values of laccase activity in the media with low content of glucose (2 g/l) during Pleurotus floridae cultivation in Kirk's stationary cultures have been shown. Employment of submerged cultivation under conditions of mycelium immobilization on polyurethane carriers allowed us to increase laccase activity twice as compared with cultivation in small stationary cultures, while had the crucial effect on the Mn-peroxidase activity. The selective effect of the studied lignin preparations on the components of ligninolytic complex and their isoenzymes has been stated. The dependence of laccase and Mn-peroxidase activities on high and low-molecular weight fractions balance in lignin preparations has been established.

ABSTRACT

selenium was studied for its effect on the node components of antioxidant protection of plants irradiated by UV of C-range. It is shown that selenium modifies the UV action of C-range and decreases the oxidation of SH-groups, increases activity of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase and decreases the accumulation of the end product of peroxidation: malondialdehyde.

ABSTRACT

The glutathione system is the protecting system of all alive organisms. The paper is devoted to the study of the state of some components of the glutathione system in plant objects taking into account that forms differing in genome complexity vary in their reaction on the effect of the environmental factors. A series of experiments was fulfilled to study the influences of gamma radiation (the dose of 2.58 x 10(-3) C/kg) on growing corn seeds, differing in genome complexity. Biochemical indices were taken every 12 hours from the moment of seeding, which made it possible to watch the functioning of the glutathione protecting system in embryos, roots and shoots during the first seventy-two hours of growing. All the forms investigated responded to gamma radiation increasing the level of the glutathione peroxidase activity and showing no dependence on the genome complexity. Embryos of lines 102 and 502 did not respond to radiation, whereas in hybrids the level of restored glutathione fell, that confirmed more sensitive protecting system of hybrids.
