ABSTRACT

AIM: The article analyzes the results of treatment of children affected with lesions of blood vessels of the head and neck. The research is aimed at developing and implementing minimally invasive techniques to treat such children. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study group comprised 4416 patients with hyperplasia of blood vessels (the so-called infantile and congenital hemangiomas) and 397 patients with blood vessel malformations, examined and treated from 1991 to 2020. RESULTS: The paper summarizes developed indications and the results of implementation of effective minimally invasive methods for the treatment of children with vascular lesions: radiofrequency thermal ablation and pulsed dye laser treatment of children with severe forms of arterio-venous malformation in their maxillofacial area and. The treatment is currently the golden standard that provides stable aesthetic results. CONCLUSION: The most optimal and preferred methods of vascular lesions treatment proved to be minimally invasive techniques that include: radiofrequency thermal ablation, interstitial laser coagulation, pulse phototherapy, sclerotherapy and systemic treatment of beta-blockers.

ABSTRACT

The article deals with the actual problem of modern treatment of infant hemangiomas. The accumulated 10-year experience of using propranolol in 512 patients has shown its effectiveness and safety. The team of authors developed a protocol for managing patients with infantile hemangiomas of various localization at all stages of treatment. Special attention was paid to the cardiological aspect of patient monitoring using modern methods of instrumental diagnostics. Due to the clear application of the created protocol with the use of ultrasound control, in most cases, it was possible to achieve complete cure of this pathology, minimize incidence of undesirable effects and avoid the formation of relapses (rebound effect). The effectiveness of the developed algorithm of diagnosis and treatment is confirmed by both clinical results and the results of instrumental examinations.

ABSTRACT

In a group of 140 patients with typical phenotype, the 22q11.2 microdeletion was detected in 43 patients (32%) using FISH and MLPA methods. There were no deletions of other chromosomal loci leading to phenotypes similar to the 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2DS). Sequencing of the TBX1 gene did not detect any mutations, except for some common neutral polymorphisms. For the first time in the Russian Federation, the diagnostic efficiency of 22q11.2DS appeared to be 32%, as a result of the application of a combination of genetic approaches for a large group of patients with suspected 22q11.2DS.

ABSTRACT

Assessment of the clinico-anamnestic and morphofunctional parameters in children with celiac disease made it possible to define criteria for the acuity of the pathological process, enabling the diagnosis of the disease phase. The data obtained as a result of morphometric examination of the biopsy material withdrawn from the small intestinal mucosa turned out to be of paramount importance.
