ABSTRACT
The results of a systematic examination of the UV/VIS spectra of 10 drug substances with chromophores and auxochromes in bicyclic and tricyclic systems (benzodiazepine, dibenzoazepine and dibenzodiazepine) are described. Influences of substituents and solvents on shifts of the E, K, B and R bands are discussed.

The results of a systematic examination of the spectra of 15 drug substances with chromophores and auxochromes in monocyclic (pyrazolone, pyrazolidin, pyridazine, pyrimidine and pyrazine) and bicyclic compounds (benzoxazol, imidazole, benzthiazole and indene) in the UV and visible range were evaluated. Influences of substituents and solvents on shifts of the E, K, B and R bands were discussed.

The spectra of 22 drug substances with chromophores and auxochromes in the aliphatic chain, in the saturated heterocyclus and in heterocyclic compounds (furan, imidazole, thiazole, thiadiazole and oxadiazole) underwent a systematic investigation and the results obtained were evaluated. Influences of substituents and solvents on shifts of the E, K, B and R bands were discussed.

The behaviour of 10 new substances with benzene, pyridine and chinoline chromophores was tested in the UV and visible spectral region. Influences of substituents and solvents on shifts of the bands E, K, B and R are discussed.

UV-spectra of 14 new substances with benzene, pyridine, quinoline and phenanthrene chromophores as well as influences of substitutes and solvents on shifts of the bands E, K, B and R are discussed.

The results of a systematic examination of the spectra of 34 drugs with dibenzo-p-thiazine chromophores in the ultraviolet and visible range were evaluated. The substances under study were subdivided into 10 different types corresponding to a different substitution in position 3 and in one case in position 5 of the phenothiazine ring system. All of these types are characterized by the bands E, K and B which are--with only a few exceptions--separated by well developed absorption minima.

The results from a systematic study of drugs with pyridine, naphthalene, quinoline and isoquinoline chromophores are evaluated and condensed into conclusions. In addition to previously reported findings, the ultra-violet and visible spectra of a further nine drugs containing the mentioned chromophores are presented.
