ABSTRACT

Effects of new wound dressing bacterial cellulose impregnated with SOD and poviargol (Procel-Super and Procel-PA) and Inerpan hydrogel dressing on the reparative processes in deep dermal burns (IIIa-IIIb degree) in rats exposed to total even irradiation in a dose of 4 Gy were studied. Inerpan and Procel-Super dressings proved to be the most effective under these conditions: they accelerated healing of burn wounds by 17.0 and 5.5%, respectively.

ABSTRACT

The study was aimed to identify different types of cell death in monkey brain in flavivirus experimental encephalitis. 10 brain areas most vulnerable ("indicator") of the disease in its different forms (symptomless, intermediate and severe) were examined in animals infected intracerebrally with viruses of tick-borne encephalitis. Cells of ectodermal and mesenchymal origin displayed apoptosis that was most pronounced in intermediate form of the severity of the disease. Apoptosis was not characteristic for the symptomless form of tick-borne encephalitis. Two types of apoptosis morphological manifestations in nerve cells were described.

ABSTRACT

Using light and electron microscopy structural bases for intracellular, extracellular and integrative regulation of synaptic efficiency and neuron sensitivity were established in rat sensomotor cortex. Intracellular regulation is realized basically through modulation of postsynaptic components of the synapse, while extracellular one is provided by synaptic endings of "recurrent" axons on GABA-ergic relay and interneurons. Integrative regulation is realized by means of concentration of similar axonal terminals in restricted cortical area and arrangement of "neuromediatory" pool.

ABSTRACT

After the immunization of sheep by the intramuscular injection of S. typhimurium vaccine strain 274 the bacteria did not proliferate, but were phagocytosed and destroyed by leukocytes and macrophages; in some sheep these bacteria persisted up to day 13, inducing inflammation neither at the site of injection, nor in lymphatic nodes and internal organs. The vaccinal process in lymphoid tissue was characterized by an initial decrease in the number of lymphocytes, then a sharp rise in blast transformation, mitosis rate and the number plasmatic cells in the centers of multiplication of follicules in lymph nodes and the spleen. After day 13 gradual normalization began and by day 32 only residual manifestations of immunomorphological changes remained. In the lamina propria of the intestinal mucosa individual small macrophagal granulomas developed. The number of lymphocytes also increased in the epithelium and the lamina propria of the uterine mucosa. In the liver variations in the number of lymphocytes were observed in portal interlayers, around central veins and in the region of sinuses.

ABSTRACT

After oral immunization of lambs with S. typhimurium vaccine strain 274 these bacteria were characterized by low adhesion to the epithelial surface of the ileum, cecum, and colon, by very insignificant invasion into intestinal epithelium and then into lamina propria of the intestinal mucosa, mesenteric lymph nodes and the blood; the blood stream carried these bacteria further to the liver, spleen and other organs. Bacteria of strain 274 produced no damages, did not multiply and only persisted for 7-13 days in some lambs. No inflammation developed in response to oral immunization of the animals. The developing immunomorphological reaction presented as just a negligible increase in lymphocyte count in the intestinal epithelium, blast transformation and plasmatization in lymphatic follicles of Peyer's patches, hyperplastic mesenteric lymph nodes, blast and lymphocyte recirculation, moderate hyperplasia of white splenic pulp and insignificant lymphoid infiltration of portal interlayers of the liver.

ABSTRACT

The ratio between the thyroid epithelium height and intrafollicular lumen diameter determined by means of a proportional dividers is taken as a basis for the method proposed. The values of the ratios are assessed by classes.

ABSTRACT

Morphofunctional parameters of the rat thyroid gland, at the light optic and electron microscopic levels, during first months of the pubertal period are not stable. Quantitative values of these parameters fluctuate with a period of 32-36 days. Some morphofunctional parameters, such as diameter of the thyrocyte nucleus and content of albumine-binding iodine in blood, depend on the animal's body mass, other parameters do not depend on it.
