ABSTRACT

Therapeutic properties of a novel taurin N-phenylakyl derivative (TAU-15) in a dose 25 mg/kg were studied in male rats on models of chronic toxic hepatitis and partial hepatectomy. A hepatoprotective action of TAU-15 was established which is due to antioxidative action of TAU-15 and its ability to normalize protein-synthetizing activity of hepatocytes.

ABSTRACT

Phenamine (10(-12)-10(-5) M/l) increased by 20-60 per cent the input (sodium and calcium) currents (Iin), the output slow potassium (Ikm) and fast potassium (Ikb) ones, and decreased the currents in higher concentrations. The volt-ampere characteristics of the membrane (VAC) and the curves of stationary inactivation (CSI) shifted along the potentials axis. The phenamine analogue IEM 1365 only decreased the currents leaving the VAC and CSI unaltered. Another analogue IEM 1370 only decreased the Iin whereas VAC and CSI also shifted along the potentials axis. The ion channels seem to be blocked in a decrease of the currents and the membrane surface potential induced with fixed charges seems to change.

ABSTRACT

Application of doubled derivatives of glutamic and evoked depolarization of the membrane of identified mollusk neurons, whereas glutamate elicited biphasic responses. The effect of these substances depended on the length of the chain (CH2)n between the residues of glutamic acid; it was maximal for n = 8. Changes in membrane conductance were shown to depend on the kind of stereo conformation of these residues. Hill's coefficient for tested compounds was about 0.75. It is suggested that the doubled derivatives of glutamic acid are agonists of glutamate D-receptors.

ABSTRACT

New species of chiggers from Tadzhikistan are described: Leptotrombidium tamanta sp. n. differs from all other species in having pubescent dorsal and lateral setae on the tibia of palps; L. derlatkoi sp. n. and L. apertum sp. n. are similar with L. smirnovi Kudryashova et Ribin, 1974, from which the former differs in having in the first dorsal row 8 setae instead of 10 and in certain sizes and the latter--in having a smaller number of setae on the body, short barbs on the dorsal setae and sizes. L. solum sp. n. differs from the close species L. europaeum (Daniel et Brelih, 1959) in the number of dorsal setae (43 instead of 34), their location and smaller sizes of the scutum. L. wolandi sp. n. differs from the preceding species by a greater number of NDV and shorter PL. L. multiplex sp. n. is characterized by a great number of setae on the body (104--120). L. smirnovi is first reported from Tadzhikistan.

ABSTRACT

The red half embryos and related quarter embryos (yolk and pigment) of Arbacia lixula, obtained by means of centrifugation of the eggs in sucrose gradient, retain the normal level of sensitivity and supersensitivity to cytotoxic neuropharmaca, antagonists of biogenic monoamines. The white half embryos and clear quarter embryos practically lack supersensitivity whereas the granular quarter embryos restore it to the initial level. The non-pigmented blastomers of stratified embryos are characterized by somewhat weakened supersensitivity. A suggestion is put forward that the supersensitive embryos of A. lixula possess a sensibilizing factor which couples the supersensitivity receptors with the processes of cell division and moves together with the yolk granules upon centrifugation. This factor is not observed in the Strongylocentrotus granularis embryos lacking evident supersensitivity.

ABSTRACT

6 species of the genus Miyatrombicula are recorded from the fauna of the USSR: M. esoensis, M. reptilica, M. muris, M. balcanica, M. caucasica, M. ramitensis sp. n. Characteristic of the genus, redescription of known and description of new species are given. Larvae of the mites parasitize in general small mammals. In addition, some of these species were found in West Europe, Japan and North America.

ABSTRACT

It is shown that in rabbits subjected to an electric stimulation of the aortic arch there developed concurrently with depletion of tissular norepinephrine reserves in the myocardium also gross metabolic disorders. A preliminary introduction of the drug izm-611 by blocking central alpha-adrenoreseptors at the same time prevented depletion of the tissular norepinephrine reserves and development of disturbances of the energy exchange in the myocardium caused by its neurogenic damage.

ABSTRACT

Early embryos of the sea urchins Arbacia lixula and Paracentrotus lividus being subjected to an osmotic or heat shock (10 min at 70 degrees C or higher) do not longer bind cytotoxic pharmaca and do not affect the sensitivity of normal indicator embryos to these drugs. After exposure for 10 min at 40 degrees C, the binding of neuropharmaca by embryos is not affected, although their ability to protect indicator embryos from the action of these neuropharmaca is inhibited 4--5 times. Serotonin and adrenaline inhibit the binding of neuropharmaca by 10--20%, while meterazine, noveryl and an amphetamine derivative--IEM-567--inhibit it by 50--60%. Antimycin A, rotenone and mercuric chloride do not affect the binding of neuropharmaca by sea urchin embryos.
