ABSTRACT

Calcium channel blockers and beta1-adrenoblockers are effective antihypertensive agents, but their cell protective properties are not investigated well. Spontaneously hypertensive rats received a 10 mg/kg/day amlodipine dose and 25 mg/kg/day bisoprolol dose via an orogastric tube during three months. We performed examination of the myocardium's fragments under a scanning electron microscope. Morphometric investigation of mitochondrions we performed using special program what is named "ORGANELLE". Amlodipine significantly normalizes the ultrastructure of the myocardium. This antihypertensive drug prevented the signs of over-contractility of myofibrils. Amlodipine causes the fusion mitochondrions which has compensatory character on the background of good safety of mitochondrial ultrastructures. Another feature of amlodipine is a significant increase in the number of capillaries. Bisoprolol significantly reduced over-contractility of the myofibrils, but the signs of dystrophic-destructive processes in myofibrils and mitochondrions of cardiomyocytes remained. Bisoprolol improved the condition of the endothelial cells, but the activation of the functional activity of these cells has not been observed. The combined use of two antihypertensive drugs amlodipine and bisoprolol led to a better recovery of myofibrils than their separate use, whereas the effect on mitochondrions noted similar as in the group of rats received bisoprolol and that effect was worse than during amlodipine's monotherapy. Also we didn't reveal a reason to combine these drugs after analysis of the effect of the drug combination on the conditions of blood microvessels, which number was increased compared with hypertensive rats, but significantly less than when rats received only amlodipine. These essential cell-protective effects of amlodipine and bisoprolol in spontaneously hypertensive rats could be a significant additional factor in the treatment of hypertension complicated with pathological changes in the heart.

ABSTRACT

Using electron microscopic techniques, we investigated bioptats of the ovaries of patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome after treatment with clostilbegit, which exerted only insignificant effects. We observed an increases in the intensify of proliferation of the connective tissue elements in the ovaries with the involvement of immunopathological processes against the background of tissue and circulatory hypoxia.

ABSTRACT

An effect was studied of electromagnetic radiation of the millimetric wave band (EHF EMR) on ultrastructural processes of the mucosa and healing of ulcer in 10 patients with duodenal ulcer. Biopsy specimens were taken from the base of the margin of the ulcer and in the area 1 cm from the margin of the ulcer defect before the treatment, after 5 and 10 sessions of EHF EMR to acupuncture points. EHF EMR was found to exert a stimulating effect on the processes of ulcer regeneration. Seen after session 5 are layers of proliferating poorly differentiated enterocytes, activation of immune and autoimmune processes, normalization of the hemomicrovessel endothelial cell structure, filling in the ulcer defect with a newly formed granulation tissue in which, among fibroblasts, macrophages, mast cells and lymphocytes, there prevail plasmic cells with an augmented secretion of immunoglobulins, increase in proliferation of epitheliocytes, with their differentiation slowing down, and a complete epithelialization of the ulcer following ten treatment procedures.

ABSTRACT

Ultrastructural changes of myocardium cells, neurons of sensorimotor cerebral cortex, endothelium of blood microvessels were registered by transmissive electron microscopy in mice receiving rock balm preparations per os. Both stimulating and toxic effects were observed dependently on used concentrations. This necessitates dosage to be strictly observed.

ABSTRACT

Microcirculation disorders may cause functional deviation in gray matter cells of the spinal cord. One of the setting moments of the disorders is the subluxation of a vertebra as a result of the disturbance in carrying ability of the spinal disc in case of spinal osteochondrosis. In this position the soft tissues of the spinal motional well innervated segment are stretched, which induces irritation in the segmental part of the spinal cord including vegetative nervous structures. Subluxation of a vertebra causes changes in the structures and in the microcirculation vessels which grow simultaneously and this permits supposing their interrelation.

ABSTRACT

The goal of the study was determination of the hemocapillary role in the restoration of arterial hypertension in patients operated on because of aorta coarctation. The biopsies of skeletal muscles of upper and lower limbs were examined in the operated and non-operated patients. Muscular-capillary ratio was determined morphometrically. The connection of the postoperative hypertension syndrome with the capillary bed reduction is established. Ultrastructural basis of the phenomenon is demonstrated.

ABSTRACT

Fibrillar components of the thymus lobules have been studied in persons 9-73 years of age and in 11-30 month-old noninbred white rats. Beginning from 9-10 years of age, i. e. before the onset of age involution, in the medullary substance of the lobules argyrophil carcass is formed; it includes numerous microvessels. At the age of 30-40 years a part of argyrophil fibers is subjected to destruction. At the same time in the medullary substance adipocytes appear. Their increasing amount is accompanied with substitution of the medullary substance for adipose substance, while a part of the cortical substance is preserved. These data are confirmed, when the thymus in old animals is studied. Ultrastructural manifestations of extra- and intracellular destruction of fibers are noted in them, too. The dynamics of the fibrillar component changes in the thymus in different animal individuals is not the same and can serve as one of the criteria of its age involution.
