ABSTRACT

The studies were carried out on immature female rats. The animals were divided into 4 groups: 1) treated with saline, 2) treated with reserpine, 3) treated with estradiol and 4) treated with estradiol and reserpine. Administration of drugs were made on 35, 36 and 37 day after delivery. There was statistically significant difference between the control group, treated with saline, and the group of rats, treated with estradiol. This is a new original fact for the presence of estrogen receptors in adrenal cells. Significant difference was found between the groups, treated with reserpine, and those, treated with saline and estradiol. The presented new data support the concept on the role of the adrenergic system in inhibiting hypothalamo-hypophysial-adrenal axis.

ABSTRACT

The authors study the secretion of the basic ovarian steroids (estradiol, progesterone and testosterone) during dysfunctional bleedings in 46 women at the premenopausal phase of climacteric (mean age of 47.02 years). The results show that the premenopausal bleeding occurs on the background of manifested hypoestradiolemia (2.5 times lower than that at the early follicular phase), hypoprogesteronemia (relatively higher that at the early follicular early follicular phase) and relatively high testosteronemia. Determination of the hormones during three successive days show lack of definite dynamics in the secretion of these ovarian steroids. Considerable individual differences are described.

ABSTRACT

The authors carried out studies on sexually immature rats of Wistar strain. After exact determination of the day of delivery rats were divided into 4 groups: I--injected with 0.9% of sodium chloride on 35th, 36th and 37th day; II--injected with the reserpine only on the same days; III--injected with estradiol on the same days; IV--injected with estradiol on the same days. The animals were killed on the 38th day after delivery. The obtained results revealed that progesterone concentration in sera of sexually immature rats was not increased after treatment with estradiol. This showed that similar effect, established in sexually mature rats, was observed in sexually immature rats as well. Serum progesterone concentration of sexually immature rats was elevated after treatment with estradiol and reserpine. This is a new original fact for participation of adrenergic system in formation of steroid sexual hormone--progesterone in the ovary.

ABSTRACT

Studied was the synchronizing effect of the prostaglandin F2a analague - estrumate (ICI, England). with the Tsigai sheep. The investigations included observations on the clinical characteristics of the estrus, determination of the hormonal profile in naturally manifested estrus and in estrus induced with prostaglandin, and the conception rate with the first two successive estrus cycles along with the total conception. Estrumate was used twice ar a 9-day interval in a single dose of 125 mg, with a following programmed artificial insemination at the 48 h and the 72d hour after the second treatment. The conception rate with the first estrus of the ewes of the control and the test group was comparatively low - 41.3 and 30.4 per cent, and with the two successive cycles - 68.5 and 76.8 per cent, respectively. The total conception of the test group was 96.4 per cent as against 87.5 per cent of the control group. The studies on the content and dynamics of the basic hormones taking part in the endocrine regulation of the cycle functions in sheep with naturally manifested estrus and those with prostaglandine-unduced estrus did not show reliable differences in the hormonal profile. It was found that estrumate could successfully be used to synchronized the estrus cycle with the Tsigai sheep - a breed with pronounced conservatism' in the manifestation of cyclic functions.

ABSTRACT

An experiment was carried out including 96 experimental and 126 control sheep of a herd with the aim to study the synchronizing effect of ICI 80.996 in respect to their sex cycle and to the changes occuring in 17 beta-estradiol and progesteron content and dynamics in the blood plasma at the time of induced oestrus. In the course of three days following the application of the preparation synchronous oestrus was induced in 80.2% of the sheep. The percentage of fertilization of the first and second insemination was 44.8 in the experimental group of sheep and 43.2 in the control group, while the percentage of fertility was 101.0 and 73.6, respectively. The rate of the changes occuring in 17 beta-estradiol and progesteron concentration in peripheral blood during the period of ICI 80.996 induced oestrus reveals no deviations from the normal physiological values, typical of that period.

ABSTRACT

Investigated were a total of 25 cows of the Bulgarian Brown breed manifesting the classical symptoms of nymphomania, along with other 25 normal cows as control animals. It was found that the total protein in the blood serum increased, coupled with a drop in the albumin fraction and a statistically significant rise of the gamma-globulin fraction. Suggested was the use of the coefficient albumin: gamma-globulin instead of the coefficient albumin:gloubulin. The new coefficient was shown to be more suitable and indicative of nymphomania. In cows with nymphomania the value of this coefficient was below 0.95.

ABSTRACT

Examined were 12 cows with normal sexual cycle and other 12 cows in the last 20 days of pregnancy, all animals belonging to the Black-Pied breed. It was found that plasma protein bound 17-beta estradiol, progesteron, and testosteron during the sexual cycle were 94.726 +/- 0.076, 94-500 +/- 0.125 and 94.122 +/- 0.066 per cent, respectively. In the last twenty days of pregnancy these values rose - 96.911 +/- 0.058, 96.124 +/- 0.074, and 96.040 +/- 0.115, respectively. In testing the binding capacity of the bovine serum albumin it was found that it fixed almost 100 per cent the three ovarial hormones, while the bovine alpha, beta- and gamma-globulin's capacity in this respect was expressed in a negligible percent.
