ABSTRACT

The article presents the results of analysis of diet habits of women in the Stavropol Krai. The study was carried out using single-stage structured interview quantitative survey. The respondent was guaranteed anonymity and the purpose of survey was explained. The questionnaire was targeted to identify diet habits of respondents and to establish their dependence with place of residence, infant feeding schedule, body mass index. The statistical data processing was performed using SPSS v. 24 software. The study demonstrated that majority of respondents feed in a fractional and varied way. The population often pays attention to the storage life of products while buying them. But only 12.5% respondents always control the caloric content of food. The obese women are more attentive to the energy value of food (pm0.001), as well as women feeding infant in a natural way (p=0.002). The respondents consume sweets and regularly add sugar to their drinks. Almost half of women assume that they need to lose weight and 37% tried to lose weight through dieting and 30% of respondents used various medications for weight loss. At that, only 21.2% of respondents were able to achieve the desired weight.

ABSTRACT

The article presents clinical and laboratory data concerning application of whitening toothpastes "Rembrandt". The effects of these pastes on the soft tissues status, the content of mineral substances in enamel biopsy liquid, enamel surface were evaluated. The results confirm the necessity of differential application of agents for tooth whitening and also of using whitening toothpastes for improvement of teeth color.

ABSTRACT

Repeated stress under forced swim test conditions suppresses most of the immunological characteristics in rats. Diazepam and melatonin (both in a dose of 0.1 mg/kg), while not changing significantly the immunological state of intact animals, decrease the stress-induced shifts. The immunotropic effect of melatonin is much more pronounced than that of diazepam.

ABSTRACT

Measurements of fluorine concentrations in 1320 urine samples collected from 440 children in the city of Maikop showed low levels of fluorine (0.43-0.72 mg) in this group in comparison with the groups receiving prophylactic treatment with optimal safe doses of fluorine with milk (0.88-1.19 mg). Consumption of physiological amounts of fluorine does not lead to its accumulation in the body even after long (up to 5 years) consumption of fluorinated milk. Permanent ratio between the values in the control and prophylactic groups allows less frequent monitoring of fluorine levels: during the first month of prevention and then after 2 and 4 years of prophylaxis with fluorinated milk. Clinical evaluation of anticaries efficiency of fluorinated milk in 920 children aged 6-8 years (309 in the control and 611 in prophylactic groups) showed a significant decrease of caries prevalence (by 12.5-24.5%) and intensity in permanent teeth (by 50.6-56.7% by the CDL index and by 47.6-52.9% by the CDLp index) after 3-5 years of regular consumption of fluorinated milk.

ABSTRACT

Three hermetics are assessed: chemically hardened Delton, light-hardened Estiseal, and composite Evikrol. The study was carried out in 126 children aged 6 years. The decrease of the increment of dental caries depends on the retention of hermetics on the occlusion surface of the teeth, and the efficacy of caries prevention in permanent teeth is much higher if hermetic sealing of fissures and fossae is combined with local fluorine prophylaxis and oral hygiene. All types of hermetics can be used to prevent permanent teeth caries, but chemically hardened ones should be preferred.

ABSTRACT

Questionnaires were distributed among 1187 children aged 7, 9 and 12 living in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Helsinki and Kuopio and dental examinations of these children were carried out. Children together with their parents answered the questions concerning tooth cleaning, consumption of sweets, parents' education. Analysis of the results helped detect the population motivation to proper care of the oral cavity and time course of this motivation.
