ABSTRACT
In experiments on rabbits it was found that the developed clofelin eyedrops in the shape of 0.125, 0.25 and 0.5 percent solutions with a rated storage time of 2 years display a hypotensive action. The fall of the intra-ocular pressure following instillation of the drug may be put down to the inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system coming as a result of the central action, as well as to the local alpha-adrenomimetic effect that brings with it a diminished secretion and improved outflow of the aqueous humor. A comparison of the effects produced by clofelin and isoglaucon on the intraocular pressure, hydro- and hemodynamics of the eyes did not reveal any essential differences between these drugs.
