ABSTRACT

The state social policy with regard to disable people in the Russian Federation is developed in accordance with international instruments which include the "Declaration on the Rights of People with Disabilities" adopted by the UN General Assembly, the ILO Convention (No159) "Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment of Disabled Persons", the "Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities" adopted by the UN General Assembly, the World Program of Action Concerning Disabled Persons etc. All these instruments mainly focus on the issue of social rehabilitation of people with health disabilities in order to offer them "equal opportunities" in different areas of their life. The paper is devoted to research of some backbone arrangements of rehabilitation of people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and major lines of proficiency training and retraining of professionals on issues of social rehabilitation of people with health disabilities as well as methods of rehabilitation of MS patients.

ABSTRACT

Hydrogen peroxide and Pt activated mixture of gaseous O(2) and H(2) have been applied to oxidation of aromatic compounds in the presence of redox active heteropoly compounds in the form of acid H(4)PMo(11)VO(40) and tetrabuthylammonium (TBA) salts TBA(4)PMo(11)VO(40) and TBA(4)HPW(11)Fe(OH)O(39). Benzene, toluene and phenol were subjected to hydroxylation of the ring, which was accompanied by secondary oxidation in the reaction with hydrogen peroxide. Oxygenation of toluene was equally directed to the ring and to methyl group. The total reactivity of substrates was increased in the order of benzene

ABSTRACT

The efficiency of licopide in combination with traditional treatment was evaluated in 59 children aged 1-14 years suffering from allergic diseases and relapsing herpetic stomatitis. Immunological studies were carried out before and after a course of therapy: local oral immunity, cellular immunity (in the blast transformation test with phytohemagglutinin), lymphocyte populations and subpopulations, humoral immunity values (IgA, IgM, IgG, and IgE), and C3 complement component were evaluated. The results indicate that licopide in complex with traditional methods normalized the immunological values, had a favorable impact on the course of relapsing herpetic stomatitis, and led to a stable remission of allergic diseases (p<0.001).

ABSTRACT

Peptide antibiotic with cyanolytic activity was isolated from the IGM52 strain of the Brevibacillus laterosporus Gram-positive spore-forming bacteria. By 1H NMR spectroscopy, this antibiotic was identified as loloatin A, a cyclic decapeptide cyclo(-Asn-Asp-Tyr-Val-Orn-Leu-DTyr-Pro-Phe-DPhe-). The spatial structure of loloatin A in solution was determined. The English version of the paper: Russian Journal of Bioorganic Chemistry, 2002, vol. 28, no. 4; see also http://www.maik.ru.

ABSTRACT

To evaluate the association between left ventricular false tendon (LVFT) and ventricular arrhythmias in acute myocardial infarction (MI) on the 1-st day of acute MI 71 patients were examined by 24-hour ECG-monitoring and M-mode, two-dimensional, Doppler echocardiography. LVFT was detected in 30 patients (42.3%). The frequency of left ventricular fibrillation, the number of patients with multiform ectopic ventricular beats (EVB), the number of single and pair EVB and runs of ventricular tachycardia were greater in group of patients with LVFT. 37 patients had Lown grades 1-2 (A) of arrhythmias, 34 patients had grades 3-5 (B). LVFT was revealed in four patients in group A (10.8%) and in 27 patients in group B (76.5%, p < 0.001). There were no significant differences between groups in left ventricular asynergy area and wall motion score, left and right ventricular, left atrium dimensions, left ventricular contractility indices, left ventricular walls thickness, frequency of mitral regurgitation. Multifactor analysis has shown significant relationship between Lown's class value and LVFT (p < 0.0001), Lown's class and arterial hypertension (p = 0.0376). Other 17 clinical factors were not connected with Lown's class value. Thus, LVFT was associated with severe ventricular arrhythmias in patients with AMI. This fact can be used as a predictor of these disturbances.

ABSTRACT

The effect of carbidine on enzymes of ethanol and acetaldehyde oxidation, the rate of ethanol elimination and the parameters of ethanol consumption were studied during long-term alcoholic intoxication. Carbidine administration was shown to increase the activity of alcohol dehydrogenase of the liver tissue, to decrease the activity of aldehyde dehydrogenase with a low Km to acetaldehyde. Also, the rate of ethanol elimination and a relative amount of consumed ethanol increase at the expense of an increase of the volume of consumed liquid.

ABSTRACT

Organ-specific antigenous properties and alcohol dehydrogenase activity (ADH) of human and rat cytoplasmic liver fractions precipitated and not precipitated by rivanol were compared. These fractions were shown to differ in organ-specific antigenous properties, with ADH activity being largely detectable in the non-precipitated fraction. A study was also made of the action of heating (45--60 degrees C), ether and chloroform on the non-precipitated fraction to show that all these factors exert an inconsistent effect on ADH activity and organ-specific antigenous properties of the fraction. It is suggested that proteins responsible for organ-specific antigenous properties and ADH activity of the non-precipitated fraction are not identical.
