ABSTRACT

Objective@#To evaluate the effect of palatal free gingiva in anterior maxillary defect restoration after epulis resection. @*Methods@# 22 cases were included in this study. Palatal free gingival flap was prepared to restore anterior maxillary defect after epulis resection. Clinical effect was evaluated according to gingival margin, gingival papilla index and modified sulcus bleeding index. @*Results @#Satisfactory clinical effect was achieved in all 22 cases, with adequate height, thickness, fullness and texture. @*Conclusin @#Palatal free gingival flap was clinically effective in anterior maxillary defect treatment after epulis resection, with satisfactory aesthetic clinical effect.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: To achieve an ideal intraoral lining, we harvest the fibular osteomyofascial flap to avoid the common embarrassment caused by the fibular osteomyocutaneous flap, and we report on our experience with this technique in this article. METHODS: Twenty-eight patients underwent reconstruction of the maxilla and mandible using an osteomyofascial free fibula flap after oncologic ablation. Data, including the size of the fascial flaps, the number of debulking operations, the complications at both the donor and recipient sites, and the dental rehabilitation, were collected. RESULTS: All fascial flaps survived and were remucosalized, except one with partial necrosis. None of the patients in the osteomyofascial group required an additional debulking operation, and 82% of the patients (23 of 28) had conventional dentures and showed good chewing function and cosmetic results. CONCLUSION: The fibular osteomyofascial flap yielded a more anatomic solution for oral mucosal defects, obviating the need for additional debulking and potentially reducing donor-site wound problems. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ABSTRACT

The index components contents of different time and different stubbles in honeysuckle were measured by HPLC, and were analysis by using the method of SPSS. Results showed that the content of index ingredients of different time had differences, and firstly decreased, then increased with time. The content of index ingredients of different stubbles had significantly differences, and firstly decreased, then increased with time. The chlorogenic acid contents were 2.059%-3.593%. The luteolosid contents were 0.110%-0.171%. Results indicated that the best picking buds time is before seven o'clock in the morning and evening at before and after seven o'clock, the index component content is higher. Picking buds in spring and at autumn index component content is higher; Picking buds in summer index component content is low. The experiment provides theoretical support for quality control in the whole process of the honeysuckle harvested and comprehensive utilization of honeysuckle.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to determine the dynamic changes of circulating osteocalcin(+) (OCN(+)) cells and insulinlike growth factor-I (IGF-I) in peripheral blood during early primary repair of jaw bones in patients with orthognathic surgery. STUDY DESIGN: The expression of bone-related genes was detected by RT-PCR in circulating OCN(+) cells. The numbers of OCN(+) cells and serum level of IGF-I were determined by flow cytometry, immunocytochemical staining, and ELISA. RESULTS: OCN(+) cells significantly increased in peripheral blood, and reached the peak at 1 to 2 weeks after surgery (P < .05). IGF-I in patients significantly decreased 1 week after surgery (P < .05), and then returned gradually to the normal level. There was no significant correlation between the number of circulating OCN(+) cells and the level of IGF-I (P > .05). CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggested that circulating OCN(+) cells, at least in part, could be mobilized in response to bone injury, and contribute to bone repair in patients with orthognathic surgery.

ABSTRACT

A root nodule bacterium, Sinorhizobium meliloti CCNWSX0020, resistant to 1.4 mM Cu2+ was isolated from Medicago lupulina growing in mine tailings. In medium supplied with copper, this bacterium showed cell deformation and aggregation due to precipitation of copper on the cell surface. Genes similar to the copper-resistant genes, pcoR and pcoA from Escherichia coli, were amplified by PCR from a 1.4-Mb megaplasmid. Inoculation with S. meliloti CCNWSX0020 increased the biomass of M. lupulina grown in medium added 0 and 100 mg Cu2+ kg(-1) by 45.8% and 78.2%, respectively, and increased the copper concentration inside the plant tissues grown in medium supplied with 100 µM Cu2+ by 39.3%, demonstrating that it is a prospective symbiotic system for bioremediation purposes.
