ABSTRACT

In the article there are contained the results of the study of ambient air of the regional center, urban-type settlement, and buccal epithelium in 87 schoolchildren aged of 11-13 years. Schoolchildren residing in the regional center were shown to be more susceptible to the exposure to such toxicants as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, fluorhydric acid, chlorine and its compounds, sulfur dioxide, formaldehyde contained in the ambient air. In this group of students if compared with students who live in the village, there were revealed more pronounced cytogenetic deteriorations in oral mucosal epitheliocytes: cells with micronuclei, different forms of protrusion of the core, dual-core cell mitosis, kariokynesis, apoptotic bodies significantly more common occur, that can speak about both not only of cytogenetic instability, but and the degree of environmental genotoxicity, in particular, ambient air. There was noted the tendency to increase the level of cytogenetic damage and destruction of the nucleus in the group of girls in comparison with boys.

ABSTRACT

The actual nutrition and vitamin provision in 14-17-year-old schoolchildren in Oryol and the Oryol Region were studied within the framework of the working programme. Sanitary recommendations for vitamin prophylaxis were developed. Evidence is provided for the biomedical efficiency of vitamin prophylaxis.

ABSTRACT

The main unfavourable factor of poultry farms environment is contact of workers with chemical disinfectants. Changes in morphofunctional, cytochemical, immunological parameters and higher level of morbidity were revealed in poultry farms. Hygienic prophylactic recommendations were made.

ABSTRACT

Vitaminization of female workers of poultry factory during 3 years promoted normalization of vitamin metabolism, lowering of toxic and allergic effect of chemical substances and morbidity. Hygienic recommendations based on the results of investigation were given.

ABSTRACT

The relationship of the antitumor action of cyclophosphamide combined with prednisolone and sequence of and intervals between administrations was studied in C57Bl/bj mice at methylcholanthrene cancerogenesis. Administrations of the drugs was started from the 50th day of cancerogenesis. The best results were obtained in an experiment where the first cycloion of prednisolone. Under these circumstances half of the animals did not develop tumours. Meanwhile the tumours that arose had low tempoes of the growth and tumour-bearing animals showed the longest life span. With an increase in the interval between prednisolone treatment onset and cyclophosphamide injection, the therapeutic effect of the combination declined that was manifested by all the parameters. An opposite effect was recorded in chronic administration of prednisolone following preliminary injections of cyclophosphamide. An increase in the interval between administration of the drugs enhanced therapeutic efficacy of the combination.

ABSTRACT

Sarcoma induced with 3-methylcholantrene in mice was transplanted to syngeneic recipients. The latent period of the tumour growth varied from 7 to 26 days. Sarcolysine was injected once when the tumour became palpable. When the tumours were revealed 7 to 8 and 10 to 15 days after the inoculation, the tumour growth inhibition was accompanied by increased survival of mice, particularly marked at the latter period. When the tumours were revealed 17 to 20 or 22 to 26 days after the transplantation, inhibition of the tumour growth was not accompanied by any increase of survival.
