ABSTRACT

We measured the levels of IL-1beta, IL-8, and TNF-alpha, as well as humoral immunity in blood serum of patients with abdominal tuberculosis before and after Koch's test. The content of TNF-alpha increased 2.5 times, the content of IL-8 decreased almost twice, and concentration of IL-1beta decreased three times compared to the controls. We found that Koch's test exacerbates pathogenic manifestations of chronic inflammation which shows changes in cytokine spectrum of blood and allows us to refine diagnosis of abdominal tuberculosis.

ABSTRACT

The levels of cytokines (IL-1beta, IL-6, TNF-alpha, IL-2, IL-10) in patients with phlegmonous appendicitis and abdominal tuberculoses were studied. It is established that the level of cytokines IL-1beta, IL-6, TNF-alpha considerably increases in patients with acute inflammatory process (phlegmonous appendicitis) and the level of interleukines IL-2, IL-10 considerably increases in patients with chronic inflammatory process (abdominal tuberculoses). Such parity of the cytokines levels can serve as a marker for differential diagnostics of acute and chronic inflammatory processes in abdominal cavity.

ABSTRACT

A comprehensive clinical and roentgenological evaluation was done in 495 patients with primary tuberculosis aged more than eighteen. The clinical pattern of primary forms of the specific process was characterized by predominance of tuberculosis of intrathoracic lymph nodes (tumorous form) infiltrative tuberculosis of pararoot or lower-lobe localization, and exudative pleurisy. Primary tuberculosis was diagnosed in 56.4% of adults. Examination of sputum for changed forms of MBT increases the frequency of verification of diagnosis by 16.0% in comparison with conventional microbiological assays. Primary tuberculosis of the respiratory system in 63.5% of adults runs its course against the background of significant disorders of T- and B-systems of lymphocytes, antituberculous immune defence and bodily metabolic processes. The use of a complex of immunologic studies was found to promote the accuracy of diagnosis of primary tuberculosis from 56.4% up to 79.6%, that of biochemical ones-from 56.4% to 77.5%.
