ABSTRACT
The autistic process unfolds with a progressive increase in psychic, unconscious and unintentional operation, which manifests itself with particular defensive modalities. They are responsible for warning signs that are present in the baby and appear repeatedly, accumulate and last over a long period, gradually and locking the child in an inner world of autistic operation. If, in addition to these signs, risk factors are also apparent in the interactions between the baby and his or her caregiver, in the babys defences, and above all in the evolution of the form or style of caregiver-baby interactions, it is then possible to propose psychotherapeutic treatment to help to modify this style of interaction, thus interrupting the evolution of this pathological autistic process and in many cases enabling healthy, standardized development

In this work, the author briefly reviews the recent contributions to neuroscience, as well as the psychology and the psychopathology of the development, showing that a dialogue is possible between these different disciplines and hoping that a pathway is opened to confronting early childhood autism in an integrative manner. Nowadays we know, thanks to the advances of epigenetics, the recent discoveries about the cerebral plasticity and mirror neurons, as well as those derived from the cerebral neurogenic study, that the brain and mental development of the human being is the result of the interaction between the genetic-biological-constitutional and the psychosocial and socio-cultural environment in which we live (AU)

This paper takes a critical look at some of the beliefs which as myths have hindered possible progress in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of autism during the first year of life. Mythical beliefs in the sense of attributing to things or people a reality which they do not have- prevent primary preventive work from being carried out and, above all, secondary treatment which would avoid the development and installation of autistic functioning in the psyche of the baby at an early stage (AU)
