ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Sixteen patients with acne vulgaris were studied. All patients had severe inflammatory lesions, nodulocystic and conglobata. Of them, 12 was male and 4 female, their age was between 16 and 24 years old. In all the cases laboratory test to evaluate chemotactic, nitroblue-tetrazolium and lysosomal activity of granulocyte were performed. The protocol included in vitro incubations with and without autologous serum for considered their action on the phagocytic cell. The results shows an inhibitory action of the autologous serum in chemotactic (d-mean, 34.25%; SEM, 2.39, p less than 0.01), nitroblue-tetrazolium test (d-mean, 21.06%; SEM, 2.85, p less than 0.05), and lysosomal activity (d-mean, 21.43%; SEM, 2.80, p less than 0.05). The authors suggest that granulocyte alterations that occur in inflammatory forms of acne vulgaris is a secondary phenomenon may be caused by seric IgE or vasoactive substances released during immune responses.

ABSTRACT

Twenty seven patients with acne vulgaris were studied. Of them, 10 had minimal lesions and 17 had severe inflammatory lesions: nodulocystic, and conglobata. NBT and lysosomal neutrophil function was performed. The results shows a significative decreased values for the three test in patients with inflammatory lesions compared to patients with non-inflammatory lesions. The values for chemotactic function was 56.23 and 93%, for NBT test 50.82 and 93% and for lysosomal activity 60.88 and 88.9%, respectively. The authors proposed that the altered in vitro neutrophil function is a secondary phenomenon caused by specific and non-specific immunologic factors that occur in patients with severe inflammatory acne vulgaris.

ABSTRACT

The authors study three cytotoxicity system in psoriasis: direct cytotoxicity (DCC), antibodies mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and activated lymphocytes mediated cytotoxicity (PCC). The results of DCC and PCC are in the normal values, while ADCC are a somewhat increased, showing a hyperactivity of this system, which could explain some physiopathological phenomena of this disease. We consider this finding as secondary to an alteration of the immune system by dysbalance of B-T lymphocytes.

ABSTRACT

By Hondius-Boldingh. Laurence and Bullough, Laurence method, the activity of the epidermal chalone receptors was studied in 36 psoriasis and 36 healthy controls. The lymphocyte chalone receptors was also studied in 26 patients, by Garcia Giralt et al. and Lasalvia et al. method. The results showed that the epidermal chalone receptors are significantly decreased in the involved skin, and in a lesser degree in the uninvolved one of the patients with psoriasis. The lymphocyte chalone receptors were normal. This decreasing in the function of the epidermal chalone system by means of different "antireceptor factors", interrupt the physiological cell control of the epidermis. The absence of the chalone specific function, produces an intracelular disbalance which provokes, in particular, the high number of mitosis and the lack of terminal differentiation. These elements admit that in psoriasis there is an abnormal epidermopoyesis. Over a genetic disorder, multiple factors leading to a deffect of the cell membrane. These factors, acquired, local or systemic interfering with the receptors of membrane, would alter the cellular regulation induced my the chalones.

ABSTRACT

The epidermic chalone receptor of skin with lesion and without lesion are studied on 20 patients with active psoriasis. The testlest were performed before and two month after oral treatment with RO 10-9359. Roche. The results show significant variation with an increased a the number of receptors after treatment. As these receptors are in the cell membrane, the authors consider that RO 10-9359 action in on the membrane and its surrounding, making in possible to the epithelial cell to begin its autoregulation, autocontrol and differentiation when the specific activity of the chalones become normal.

ABSTRACT

The concentration of total cholesterol and that of its sterified fraction is studied in skin biopsies and blood of psoriatic patients. The results show high cholesterol levels in skin of psoriatic plaques and of healthy areas. The sterified cholesterol proportion is significantly less in plaques than in skin without lesions of the same patients, and that of the normal controls. These alterations are not accompanied by a modification of the plasmatic lipidic profile. The results could be the expression of a raise of the skin cholesterol preceeding and perhaps predisposing the evolution of the psoriatic lesion, and the deficit on the cholesterol enzymes sterification as a biochemical marker of the accelerated differentiation and cornification at the psoriatic plaque.

ABSTRACT

The circunlant antimelanin antibodies are studied in common or idiopathic vetiligo. The patients did not have other skin or systemic lesions. The results show the presence antimelanin antibodies in a very significant fashion. Based on these elements, the authors consider that this observation is very important and that in this disease the autoimmune mechanisms have a fundamental character. In vitiligo as in every autoimmune disease, the etiology can be multiple.

ABSTRACT

--The authors study in psoriasis an enzyme of the glucolytic way, the Phospho-hexose-isomerase. --They find significant high levels in blood and damaged skin, while these were "normal" in healthy skin. --Phospho-hexose-isomerase acts as a biological marker in psoriasis, and acquires the significance of an active cellular proliferation. --The highest values are those of the erythrodermaes which become normal with clinical involution. --The authors suggest that psoriasis, by an exaggerated cellular division inhibition mechanism, metabolism is deviated in order to bring the energetic elements and substrate to form the new cell. --Phospho-hexose-isomerase is not specific of the malignant process.

ABSTRACT

Three cellular cytotoxic lymphocytary populations were studied in patients with different forms of inflammatory acne vulgaris: direct or spontaneous, antibodies dependent and phytohemagglutinine stimulated. To these was added "Propionibacterium acnes" from cultures of material extracted separately from comedones and pustules. The direct or spontaneous and antibodies dependent cytotoxicity were normal. The subpopulation responsible of the phytohemagglutinine stimulated cytotoxicity has shown a clear hyperactivity which was augmented by the addition of these bacteria. But this hyperactivity stimulation was selective for the "Propionibacterium acnes" from pustules and not for those from comedones. These findings could contribute to the knowledge of the immune cellular mechanisms in acne vulgaris inflammation provoked by these bacteria.

ABSTRACT

In both cases, the interferon is significantly increased. This could explain the immunological alterations of the efferent or the afferent ways described in the psoriasis. The interferon anti-proliferative action would not be produced by a failure in the receptors of the cellular membrane at the psoriasis epidermis. In some psoriasis, interferon inductors activated or not by viruses could be associated to the etiology of the disease.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

63 patients with Pityriasis capitis (PC) "dandruff" and Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) as well as normal controls were studied. Antigenicity was checked "in vitro" by the lymphocytic transformation test. A significant transformation in the PC to P. ovale was observed while in SD it was to Stanphyloccocus and P. ovale. In view of results the authors suggest that there is a similar immunoalergic response in the host to those antigens. The clinic will differ according to the antigens. This is significant for a new local treatment and general.

ABSTRACT

The physiopathological mechanisms of the different degrees of the Acne Vulgaris are reviewed. The observations show the important antigenic activity of the "Propionibacterium acnes" and the cellular immunity in the inflammation. An immunologic concept could explain this process.
