ABSTRACT

Nurses have largely contributed to the national effort to fight the Covid-19 crisis, but have also been strongly affected by its consequences. This observation, reinforced by the recent recommendations of the World Health Organization's report on the situation of nurses in the world, underlines the need to initiate changes in the nursing field in France without delay.

ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 health crisis demonstrates that a world without vaccines would expose us to epidemics with certainly, still today, appalling consequences. Today, more than an act, vaccination is a major public health issue.

ABSTRACT

The brutal collective ordeal of the pandemic and lockdown has disrupted the activities and settings of home nurses. The impossible accompaniment at the end of their loved one's life in the hospital, led the family of M. P. to ask for his return to the home. With in-home support, the nursing team, accompanied by the family, provided non-invasive end-of-life care while respecting the patient's wishes.

ABSTRACT

The largest health profession in terms of the number of employees, nurses are affected by the decisions taken with regard to their professional group but they also want to be involved in the decision-making processes relating to healthcare issues. In these negotiations, the task of professional nursing organisations is to demonstrate professional leadership.

ABSTRACT

The patient-centred palliative care approach means establishing partnerships between him or her, the caregivers, the family, social sector professionals and care volunteers. Communication, which takes the form of dialogue, listening, establishing a relationship of trust and observing behaviour and body language is essential faced with the uncertainty and existential questioning of the patient and their family. In the patient's home, as this experienced nurse describes, this questioning leads caregivers to reflect on their professionalism and humanity.

ABSTRACT

Although it is a free choice and appears paradoxical, the choice to be a nurse is binding. In keeping with its Code of Ethics, the nursing profession demands an ethical, social, political and collective commitment that we cannot shy away from or we will fail to fulfil our obligations.

ABSTRACT

The publication of the code of ethics for nurses requires the French National Order of Nurses' structures to undertake initiatives with the aim of promoting it as well as implementing the public service missions which have now been attributed to the Order. Each regional and departmental body has its role to play in raising awareness of this code and its application in the field.
