The differential diagnosis is quite large. Most cases are caused by benign anorectal diseases like hemorrhoids. On the other hand neoplasias of the anus and intestine or inflammatory bowel disease are important diagnoses to be considered. We emphasize that every patient should be seen by a doctor and endoscopic investigation should be discussed.
