ABSTRACT

This study aimed to analyse the classification, development trends and the influencing factors of the Chinese older adults' mental health state. Based on longitudinal data of Chinese older adults from 2005 to 2014, 2077 older adults aged 64 to 105 were included and the Latent Class Model, Latent Growth Mixture Model and Multinomial Logit models were employed in this study. We find that there are three types of mental health state of the Chinese older adults: negative, positive and contradictory; and the contradictory type could easily turn into negative or positive mental health state. There are four types of dynamic trends of mental health state: persistently negative, persistently positive, pro-negative, and pro-positive. About 40% of the older adults could maintain positive mental health state, and the pro-negative accounts for larger proportion than the pro-positive. Better economic status, good living habits, cohabitation with family members and pension coverage are beneficial for positive mental health state of the Chinese older adults. There is significant heterogeneity in the state as well as development trends of mental health of the older adults. The older adults with contradictory and negative types of mental health state should get timely psychological help to avoid turning into negative state. A series of polices are needed to promote mental health for the older adults in China.

ABSTRACT

A typical serial manipulator consists of a servo motor, a serial mechanism and an independent joint placed between the motor and the serial mechanism. Both the time-varying characteristics of the inertia of the serial mechanism and the flexibility characteristics of the independent joint are widely found in serial manipulator servo drive systems. These two characteristics not only increase the resonance magnitude of serial manipulators, but also affect the dynamic characteristics of the system. In order to obtain a stable output speed of serial manipulators, the variable parameters of a PI control strategy is applied to a serial manipulator servo drive system. Firstly, dynamic model of a serial manipulator servo drive system is established based on a two-inertia system. Then the transfer function from motor speed to motor electromagnetic torque is derived by the state-space equation. Furthermore, the parameters of the PI controller are designed and optimized utilizing three different pole assignment strategies with the identical radius, the identical damping coefficients, and the identical real parts. The results indicate that a serial manipulator servo drive system can obtain good dynamic characteristics by selecting parameters of the PI controller appropriately.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: This study was designed to establish bone mineral density (BMD) reference data of proximal femur, research the effect of age, height and weight on BMD of proximal femur, and estimate the prevalence of osteoporosis in a Chinese female population. In addition we compared the results with Lebanese and USA white women reference data. METHODS: Our study was conducted at one center, including 1578 Chinese women, aged 20-79years. We measured the BMD for proximal femur using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, and then established a reference database of proximal femur and set up regression equations of age, height and weight for BMD at proximal femur to research the effects of age, height and weight on BMD. After that, we calculated the standardized BMD and compared them with Lebanese and USA white women reference data. RESULTS: The peak BMD occurred in the age range 30-39 years for femoral neck and Ward's triangle, and 40-49 years for trochanter in Chinese women, which were later than in Lebanese and USA white women. The BMD of proximal femur in Chinese women were lower than Lebanese and USA white women in most age ranges. Weight profoundly influenced BMD in all age groups, and age and height mainly effected BMD in older age groups. The standardized prevalence of osteoporosis among Chinese women of 50-79 years old was 9.6% in femoral neck, which was higher than Lebanese but lower than USA white women. CONCLUSION: The BMD database of proximal femur in Chinese women we established is normative and different from Lebanese and USA white women reference data, which provides more reliable information on the prevalence of osteoporosis in China.

ABSTRACT

The targeted or responsive systems are appealing therapeutic platforms for the development of next-generation precision medications. So, we design and prepare acid-controlled release complexes of podophyllotoxin (POD) and etoposide (VP-16) with pH-labile acyclic cucurbit[n]urils, and their characteristics and inclusion complexation behaviors were investigated via fluorescence spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance and X-ray power diffraction. Cells incubated with complexes have been analyzed by high-content analysis (HCA), and cytotoxicity tests have been completed by MTT assay. The results showed that complexes with different binding constants can release the drug substance in the physiological pH environment of cancer cells, maintain good anticancer activity, and have low cytotoxicity. This provides a strategy about targeted and responsive systems of POD and VP-16 for clinical application.
