ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To establish the liver-depression and spleen-deficiency syndrome model in rats to screen the optimal extraction method of small compound Yueanjian on the basis of pharmacodynamic and chemical indicators. METHOD: The PMS liver-depression and spleen-deficiency syndrome model were established by the chronic restraint stress method and treatment with Yueanjian extracted by three methods: water-extraction, steam-distillation and alcohol-extraction. Behavioral performances and the contents of estradiol and progestin in serum were determined before and after the administration of the three extracts. The contents of salvianolic acid B in these three extracts were detected by HPLC. The optimal extraction method of Yueanjian was selected according to pharmacodynamic results. RESULT: The contents of estradiol and progestin in groups treated with steam distillations and alcoholic extraction were higher than the model group. In the open field test, the group treated with steam distillations showed much higher scores than the model group. HPLC showed that the content of salvianolic acid B extracted by steam-distillation was higher than the other two extracts. CONCLUSION: On the basis of pharmacodynamic and chemical results, the steam-distillation was proved to be best extraction method of Yueanjian.

ABSTRACT

TCM syndrome differentiation system (TCM-SDS) possesses a complex nonlinear characteristic, which determines the falt that the evaluation of TCM efficacy should not be simplified to a causal or linear relationship. Previous selected indexes and methods for evaluating curative effect of Child's pneumonia have their limitations. This paper mainly introduces several thoughts and methods formed in the exploratory researches, employing data mining technology in this field. We believe that efficacy evaluation research of Child's pneumonia on the basis of standardized study of TCM-SDS is a scientific work. Applying data mining method in processing enormous and multilayer information of TCM differentiation has strong advantages in screening evaluating indexes of Child's pneumonia. Meanwhile, some major concerning technical categorizations and implementing strategies for the research are also introduced.

ABSTRACT

Researches in recent close to dozen years concerning Tripterygium wilfordii (TW) toxicity-reducing and efficacy-enhancing by combined use of Chinese medicine in treating intractable diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, nephropathy, psoriasis etc. were summarized in this paper. Furthermore, the therapeutic mechanisms and adverse reaction of TW were elaborated and how to arrange properly the TCM hebal drugs used in combination was analyzed.

ABSTRACT

The relationship between adjunctive drug (AD) and other drugs in a compound prescription and the actions of AD are very complex. From historical view, it showed the adjunctive action of AD was only be recognized with emphasis on its action as corrigent and effect on complications. In modern medicine, the actions of AD were reduced to 3 aspects: the assistant action, the restrained action and the corrigent action, with new contents added in each aspect on the basis of the ancient understanding. The authors hold that to master the various actions of AD and its relationship with other drugs in the prescription would be helpful in choosing them accurately and scientifically, thus to contribute the treatment in accordance with disease.
