ABSTRACT
Among 2,443 patients who underwent operation for acute appendicitis in a period of 9 years 19 had Crohn's disease. The specific features of the clinical picture and the morphological changes are described. The diagnosis and surgical tactics in Crohn's disease are discussed. It is emphasized that alertness in relation to this disease in emergency surgery is necessary because of the danger of the development of grave complications. Recommendations with regard to the treatment of patients in the postoperative period are given.

The authors observed 7 patients aged from 19 to 74. Five of them were operated upon. One patient died from anaerobic neclostridial phlegmon of the anterior abdominal wall which appeared after an injury of the not noticed urinary duct. Laparotomic accesses passing aside form the area of possible localization of the urinary duct were more justified. When operating on the paraumbilical area it is expedient to make a revision for the detection of the urachus and associated abnormalities on the anterior abdominal wall.

For 50 years since the first successful ablation of lung for lung cancer the thoracic surgery has accumulated rich experience with the operative treatment of the disease. The article generalizes the authors' material with 1800 patients with lung cancer, half of them being subjected to operations. Recent progress in anesthesiology, transfusiology and reanimatology gives wider indications for lung resection.

Failure of antibiotic therapy against the background of sharply decreased defensive forces of the organism in the postpartum period made it necessary to perform a comparative clinical evaluation of the effect of homologous and heterologous gamma globulins. It has been established that treatment with these drugs results in normalization of clinical and immunological signs which are retained till the complete recovery of patients.

The effectiveness of heterologic antistaphylococcal gammaglobulin was studied in the clinic in 67 cases of acute lactogenous mastitis. The activity of the preparation was 200 A. E/ml. The Bezredko method of injection was used--l ml once a day during 5 days. The treatment resulted in the decrease of intoxication, purification of the surgical wound, normalization on non-specific protection factors, rise of antistaphylococcal antitoxin titers and decrease of autosensitization phenomena.

PIP: The authors examined 2642 cases of mastitis in the course of 5 years. 2 of the patients died of sepsis. Acute lactation mastitis may be divided into several categories. The various kinds of lactation mastitis are examined. The treatment of mastitis is always associated with dietotherapy prescribed in case of acute infectious mastitis by a massive vitamin-therapy and by therapy under anesthesia when necessary. The administration of aspirin is nowadays considered as a mistake because of its teratogenic effects. Prophylactic measures may be applied in order to reduce the frequency of lactation mastitis.^ieng

Dysembryonal tumors of the lung occur 50 times as rarely as malignant ones, and their differential diagnosis is rather difficult. Enucleation of a tumor with subsequent suturing of the bed is felt to be the rational tactics in treatment of such neoplasms. A rapid survey biopsy intraoperatively seems to be absolutely necessary.
