ABSTRACT

Introduction: Epithelial Ovarian cancer most commonly presents at advanced stages with extra-abdominal disease metastasis. Notably, enlarged cardiophrenic lymph nodes are found in 10.5-62 % of patients with advanced ovarian cancer. However, the safety and feasibility of cardiophrenic lymph nodes dissection as a component of debulking surgery remains controversial (Acs et al., 2022, Agusti et al., 2024). Case/methods: We present a surgical video demonstrating the technique of bulky pericardial mass and metastatic cardiophrenic lymph nodes resection by transdiaphragmatic approach in advanced ovarian cancer. After the complete excision of intra-abdominal disease at laparotomy, the diaphragm is exposed, following the liver mobilization. According to the preoperative radiological examinations, the pericardial mass in the diaphragmatic space is reconfirmed, and then carefully removed by blunt and sharp dissection. Next, the pericardial cavity is closed by continuous suture. Through the transdiaphragmatic access to thoracic cavity, the pericardial fat pad containing cardiophrenic lymph nodes is explored and completely resected in view throughout. The diaphragm incision is closed continuously using non-absorbable suture with a biofilm, meanwhile, performing air aspiration in thoracic cavity. Conclusion: We demonstrate that advanced ovarian cancer with extra-abdominal diseases, such as bulky pericardial mass and cardiophrenic lymph nodes, should not be an absolute contraindication to a planned complete debulking surgery. Based on our growing experience, transdiaphragmatic approach is a safe and feasible access for metastatic cardiophrenic lymph nodes dissection.

ABSTRACT

During the COVID19 pandemic, there is a pronounced collective mental health issue among college students. Forecasting the trend of emotional changes in on-campus students is crucial to effectively address this issue. This study proposes an Attention-LSTM neural network model that performs deep learning on key input sequence information, so as to predict the distribution of emotional states in college students. By testing 60 consecutive days of emotional data, the model successfully predicts students' emotional distribution, triggers and resolution strategies, with an accuracy rate of no less than 99%. Compared with models such as ARIMA, SARIMA and VAR, this model shows significant advantages in accuracy, operational efficiency, and data collection requirements. The integration of deep learning technology with student management in this study offers a novel approach to address emotional issues among students under exceptional circumstances.

ABSTRACT

Rice blast has caused major production losses in rice, and thus the early detection of rice blast plays a crucial role in global food security. In this study, a semi-supervised contrastive unpaired translation iterative network is specifically designed based on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images for rice blast detection. It incorporates multiple critic contrastive unpaired translation networks to generate fake images with different disease levels through an iterative process of data augmentation. These generated fake images, along with real images, are then used to establish a detection network called RiceBlastYolo. Notably, the RiceBlastYolo model integrates an improved fpn and a general soft labeling approach. The results show that the detection precision of RiceBlastYolo is 99.51% under intersection over union (IOU0.5) conditions and the average precision is 98.75% under IOU0.5-0.9 conditions. The precision and recall rates are respectively 98.23% and 99.99%, which are higher than those of common detection models (YOLO, YOLACT, YOLACT++, Mask R-CNN, and Faster R-CNN). Additionally, external data also verified the ability of the model. The findings demonstrate that our proposed model can accurately identify rice blast under field-scale conditions.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Endometrial carcinoma (EC) is one of the most common tumors in the female reproductive system. There are nearly 200 000 new cases every year. It is the third most common gynecological malignant tumor leading to female death. The incidence rate is closely related to lifestyle, and the incidence rate varies in different regions. The incidence rate of EC is ranking the first in the female reproductive system cancer just second only to breast, lung, and colorectal cancer in North America and Europe and the incidence rate of EC is only second, followed by breast cancer and cervical cancer in China. PURPOSE: The potential metabolic markers of endometrial cancer were screened by liquid chromatograph mass spectrometer (LC-MS), and the tissues of patients with hysteromyoma and endometrial cancer were sequenced to explore the relationship between the disease and change in the content of long-chain noncoding RNA (lncRNA). METHODS: Serum and tissue samples were collected from patients with endometrial dysplasia, endometrial cancer stage I, and endometrial cancer stage III. The metabolites in all serum samples were extracted, and the metabolites in all samples were detected by LC-MS/MS technology. The Pareto-scaling method was used for normalization, and the MetaboAnalyst 4.0 software was used for different analyses. The T test between groups showed that p ≤ 0.05 was regarded as the metabolite with a difference. Further, the function of differential metabolites was determined by metabolite function enrichment and co-expression analysis. Meanwhile, the differentially expressed lncRNA was detected by Illumina second-generation high-throughput sequencing technology, and the expression was analyzed by DEGseq software. Different lncRNA were screened according to p < 0.05. LncRNA with significant differences were screened by p < 0.01, q < 0.001, fold change ≥2, and false discovery rate (FDR) ≤0.001. RESULTS: Through synthesis of T test, cluster heatmap, and ROC curve analysis, five biomarkers with potential diagnostic ability were obtained, including 2,3-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid (area under the curve (AUC) = 0.69), Hematommic acid, ethyl ester (AUC = 0.69), Maltitol (AUC = 0.69), 13(S)-HODE (AUC = 0.88), and D-Mannitol (AUC = 0.69) had potential diagnostic ability between EC phase I versus EC phase III. At the same time, lncRNA sequencing results showed that when endometrial atypical hyperplasia continued to change, including LINC00511, PVT1, and IQCH-AS1 (downregulated), and only changed significantly in the endometrial dysplasia group, including MALAT1, CARMN (downregulated) and LINC00648, BISPR, LINC01534, and LINC00930 (upregulated). Moreover, both differential metabolites and differential lncRNA were annotated to the lipid metabolism pathway, suggesting that this pathway played an important role in the occurrence and development of endometrial carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS: It can combine the results of metabolomics and lncRNA sequencing to assist in the early diagnosis of endometrial precancerous lesions and endometrial cancer patients, to enhance the sensitivity and specificity of diagnosis, which has a certain clinical application prospect.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Intracardiac leiomyomatosis (ICLM) is a rare life-threatening form of intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVLM). The incomplete resection and recurrence are associated with high morbidity and mortality. The objective of this study is to identify that whether estrogen deprivation therapies, including bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO)-based surgery and gonadotrophin releasing hormone agonists (GnRHa) administration, could bring benefits to patients with primary unresectable ICLM. METHODS: PubMed/MEDLINE (Ovid) was searched (up to May 2021) for studies reporting individual patient data on demographics, clinicopathological features, treatment, and follow-up information. Exclusion criteria were patients who may have been included in two or more publications. This study was performed in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. RESULTS: A total of 114 patients from 70 papers were included. Several reports showed that the tumor in the right atrium and inferior vena cava shrank dramatically after BSO-based surgery, or GnRHa administrated preoperatively in premenopausal women. The rate of complete resection was 64.04% in patients with ICLM, which was 85.25% in no/slight adhesion and no pulmonary nodules group, while 22.22% in firm/extensive adhesion and/or pulmonary nodules group (p < 0.0001). Meanwhile, the recurrence rates in patients with complete resection and incomplete resection were 4.29% and 37.84% respectively (p < 0.0001). Furthermore, complete resection with BSO had the lowest recurrence rate of 3.13%, incomplete resection with BSO had a progression rate of 45.45%, while incomplete resection with ovarian preservation had the highest progression rate of 75.00%. CONCLUSIONS: The recurrence rate of ICLM was closely related to firm/extensive adhesion in IVC or above, and/or pulmonary nodules. BSO-based surgery might reduce the recurrence rate no matter ICLM could be completely resected or not. In addition, estrogen deprivation therapies could decrease tumor burden as a primary treatment, and further make a secondary complete resection feasible in premenopausal women with initially unresectable ICLM.

ABSTRACT

This study examined whether and how closeness affected the calculation and selection processes underlying perspective taking. Using the visual dot perspective taking task, we introduced a close friend and a stranger from the participants' university as the perspective-taking targets. Friend and stranger trials were mixed in a block in Experiment 1 but separated in different blocks in Experiment 2. Results revealed a significant effect of closeness on egocentric but not altercentric interference. The analyses on other-consistent and other-inconsistent trials suggested that closeness impeded responding from the avatar's perspective when self and other perspectives differed but facilitated responding from the avatar's perspective when self and other perspectives were consistent. However, the analyses on self-consistent and self-inconsistent trials revealed that the processing cost induced by implicit perspective calculation and other-inhibition was comparable between friends and strangers. These suggested that closeness selectively impeded self-perspective inhibition whereas facilitated explicit perspective calculation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Cervical cancer is a frequently encountered gynecological malignancy as a major contributor to cancer-related deaths in women. This study focuses on how miR-193b promotes cervical cancer aggressiveness as well as the role of m6A in miR-193b silencing. METHODS: Cervical cancer samples and the matching adjacent normal cervical tissues were used to determine the significance of miR-193b in cervical cancer. The CCK-8 assay, cell cycle analysis, qRT-PCR, Western blot assay, IHC, RIP, and xenograft models were utilized to explore the impact of miR-193b in cervical cancer and how m6A regulates miR-193b expression. Luciferase reporter assays, qRT-PCR, and Western blotting were enlisted to study the interaction between miR-193b and CCND1. RESULTS: Our study suggested that lower miR-193b expressions were strongly linked to more advanced cervical cancer stages and the presence of deeper stromal invasion. miR-193b functions as a tumor suppressor that is regulated by m6A methylation in cervical tumors. METTL3 modulates miR-193b mature process in an m6A-dependent manner. Reintroduction of miR-193b profoundly inhibits tumorigenesis of cervical cancer cells both in vivo and in vitro through CCND1 targeting. CONCLUSIONS: m6A associated downregulation of miR-193b promotes cervical cancer aggressiveness by targeting CCND1.
