ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Lung adenocarcinoma metastasizing to the brain results in a notable increase in patient mortality. The high incidence and its impact on survival presents a critical unmet need to develop an improved understanding of its mechanisms. METHODS: To identify genes that drive brain metastasis of tumor cells, we collected cerebrospinal fluid samples and paired plasma samples from 114 lung adenocarcinoma patients with brain metastasis and performed 168 panel-targeted gene sequencing. We examined the biological behavior of PMS2 (PMS1 Homolog 2)-amplified lung cancer cell lines through wound healing assays and migration assays. In vivo imaging techniques are used to detect fluorescent signals that colonize the mouse brain. RNA sequencing was used to compare differentially expressed genes between PMS2 amplification and wild-type lung cancer cell lines. RESULTS: We discovered that PMS2 amplification was a plausible candidate driver of brain metastasis. Via in vivo and in vitro assays, we validated that PMS2 amplified PC-9 and LLC lung cancer cells had strong migration and invasion capabilities. The functional pathway of PMS2 amplification of lung cancer cells is mainly enriched in thiamine, butanoate, glutathione metabolism. CONCLUSION: Tumor cells elevated expression of PMS2 possess the capacity to augment the metastatic potential of lung cancer and establish colonies within the brain through metabolism pathways.

BACKGROUND: Esophageal cysts are relatively rare in clinical practice, with most of the literature comprising case reports. Esophageal cysts protruding into the thyroid gland are easily misdiagnosed as thyroid tumors. No such cases have been reported so far. CASE SUMMARY: This article reports the case of a 31-year-old adult male diagnosed with thyroid nodules before admission. The patient underwent left thyroidectomy and isthmusectomy. During the surgery, esophageal cysts were identified in the esophageal muscle and thyroid glands. The pathology results confirmed a nodular goiter combined with esophageal cysts. Postoperatively, the patient developed a neck infection and underwent another operation and broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment for recovery. CONCLUSION: We report the first clinical case of an esophageal cyst located within the thyroid gland that was successfully treated surgically. Esophageal cyst located within the thyroid gland cause difficulties in diagnosis. In the present study, the contents of the esophageal cysts were calcified foci, and a small amount of fluid mixture, which were easily misdiagnosed as thyroid nodules and misled the surgical methods.

BACKGROUND: The burgeoning demand for hepatectomy in elderly patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) necessitates improved perioperative care. Geriatric populations frequently experience functional decline and frailty, predisposing them to adverse postoperative outcomes. The Barthel Index serves as a reliable measure for assessing functional capacity, and this study evaluates its impact on surgical textbook outcomes (TOs) in elderly HCC patients. METHODS: A multicenter retrospective cohort study analyzed elderly patients (≥70 years) following hepatectomy for HCC between 2013 and 2021. Utilizing a Barthel Index cut-off value of 85, patients were divided into two groups: with and without preoperative functional decline and frailty. The primary outcome was the rate of TO, encompassing seven criteria. TO rates were compared between groups, and multivariate logistic regression analyses identified independent risks for achieving TOs. RESULTS: Of 497 elderly patients, 157 (31.6 â€‹%) exhibited preoperative functional decline and frailty (Barthel Index score <85). The overall TO rate was 58.6 â€‹%. Patients with preoperative Barthel Index score <85 had significantly lower TO rates compared to patients with score ≥85 (29.3 â€‹% vs. 72.1 â€‹%, P â€‹< â€‹0.001). Multivariate analysis revealed preoperative Barthel Index score <85 as an independent risk for achieving TO (odds ratio 3.413, 95 â€‹% confidence interval 1.879-6.198, P â€‹< â€‹0.001). Comparable results were observed in the subgroups of patients undergoing open and laparoscopic hepatectomy. CONCLUSION: Preoperative Barthel Index-based assessment of functional decline and frailty significantly predicts TOs following hepatectomy in elderly HCC patients, enabling identification of high-risk patients and informing preoperative management and postoperative care within geriatric oncology.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to compare the intestinal and pancreatobiliary subtypes of ampullary adenocarcinoma in a large patient group due to limited data on survival and risk factors. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of the clinical and pathological findings and the survival of 184 patients with ampullary adenocarcinoma who underwent curative operation between 2007 and 2018 was performed. RESULTS: Pancreatobiliary subtype had a higher prevalence of jaundice before operation than the intestinal subtype (p < 0.05). Pancreatobiliary subtype had a larger tumor size (> 2 mm) (p < 0.01) and poorer differentiation (p < 0.05) than the intestinal subtype. Perineural invasion more frequently occurred in pancreatobiliary subtype than the intestinal subtype (p < 0.01) and pancreatobiliary subtype had a higher prevalence of positive dissected lymph nodes (p < 0.05) with an advanced disease stage (p < 0.01) than the intestinal subtype. Patients of the pancreatobiliary subtype had poorer disease-free and overall survival than patients of the intestinal subtype. No survival benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy was found in either patients of the intestinal subtype or pancreatobiliary subtype. No significant difference was found in any subtypes regarding the recurrent regions. CONCLUSIONS: Pancreatobiliary subtype exhibited a higher recurrence rate and a poorer overall survival rate with more unfavorable pathological characteristics than the intestinal subtype.


OBJETIVOS: Los datos sobre la supervivencia y los factores de riesgo del adenocarcinoma ampular son limitados debido a su rareza. Este estudio buscó comparar el subtipo intestinal y el subtipo pancreático-biliar en pacientes con adenocarcinoma ampular. MÉTODOS: Análisis retrospectivo de hallazgos clínicos y patológicos y la supervivencia de 184 pacientes con adenocarcinoma ampular tratados entre 2007 y 2018. RESULTADOS: El subtipo pancreático-biliar tuvo una mayor prevalencia de ictericia antes de la operación y un tamaño de tumor mayor, y una peor diferenciación, que el subtipo intestinal. La invasión perineural fue más frecuente en el subtipo pancreático-biliar, con una mayor prevalencia de linfonodos disecados positivos y un estadio avanzado de la enfermedad. Los pacientes del subtipo pancreático-biliar tuvieron una supervivencia libre de enfermedad y una supervivencia general peores que los pacientes del subtipo intestinal. No se encontró ningún beneficio de la quimioterapia adyuvante en pacientes del subtipo intestinal o pancreático-biliar. No hubo diferencia significativa en las regiones recurrentes. CONCLUSIÓN: El subtipo pancreático-biliar mostró una tasa de recurrencia y una tasa de supervivencia general peores, con características patológicas más desfavorables que el subtipo intestinal.

ABSTRACT

This study systematically reviewed the application of large language models (LLMs) in medicine, analyzing 550 selected studies from a vast literature search. LLMs like ChatGPT transformed healthcare by enhancing diagnostics, medical writing, education, and project management. They assisted in drafting medical documents, creating training simulations, and streamlining research processes. Despite their growing utility in assisted diagnosis and improving doctor-patient communication, challenges persisted, including limitations in contextual understanding and the risk of over-reliance. The surge in LLM-related research indicated a focus on medical writing, diagnostics, and patient communication, but highlighted the need for careful integration, considering validation, ethical concerns, and the balance with traditional medical practice. Future research directions suggested a focus on multimodal LLMs, deeper algorithmic understanding, and ensuring responsible, effective use in healthcare.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Previous in vivo and in vitro studies have demonstrated that estrogen receptor agonist G-1 regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. This study focused on the effects of G-1 on cardiometabolic syndrome and anti-obesity under a high fat diet (HFD). METHODS: Bilateral ovariectomized female mice were fed an HFD for 6 weeks, and treated them with G-1. A cardiomyocyte insulin resistance model was used to simulate the in vivo environment. The main outcome measures were blood glucose, body weight, and serum insulin levels to assess insulin resistance, while cardiac function and degree of fibrosis were assessed by cardiac ultrasound and pathological observations. We also examined the expression of p-AMPK, p-AKT, and GLUT4 in mice hearts and in vitro models to explore the mechanism by which G-1 regulates insulin signaling. RESULTS: G-1 reduced body weight in mice on an HFD, but simultaneously increased blood glucose and promoted insulin resistance, resulting in myocardial damage. This damage included disordered cardiomyocytes, massive accumulation of glycogen, extensive fibrosis of the heart, and thickening of the front and rear walls of the left ventricle. At the molecular level, G-1 enhances gluconeogenesis and promotes glucose production by increasing the activity of pyruvate carboxylase (PC) while inhibiting GLUT4 translocation via the AMPK/TBC1D1 pathway, thereby limiting glucose uptake. CONCLUSION: Despite G-1's the potential efficacy in weight reduction, the concomitant induction of insulin resistance and cardiac impairment in conjunction with an HFD raises significant concerns. Therefore, comprehensive studies of its safety profile and effects under specific conditions are essential prior to clinical use.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: To assess the genetic characteristics of central nervous system (CNS) metastases from non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), we gathered the genetic profiles of brain metastases (BM) and leptomeningeal metastases (LM). Our objective was to identify genetic factors contributing to poorer overall survival (OS) in NSCLC patients with LM. METHODS: This study included 25 consecutive patients with BM and 52 patients with LM from Guangdong Sanjiu Brain Hospital. All participants underwent 168-target panel sequencing. RESULTS: Among the 25 patients with BM, TP53 was the most frequently mutated gene (44%), followed by driver genes such as EGFR and BRAF (40% and 20%, respectively). In patients with BM, EGFR_amp and CDK4 were also frequently mutated, with rates of 20% and 16%, respectively. The genetic landscape of patients with LM differed, with the top mutated genes being EGFR, TP53, EGFR_amp, CDKN2A, CCNE1, CDK4, PMS2, and PIK3CA, with mutation rates of 77%, 69%, 31%, 29%, 13%, 13%, 13%, and 12%, respectively. In our study, patients with LM exhibited significantly worse OS compared to those with BM (p = 0.029). The mutation rates of TP53, EGFR_amp, and CDKN2A varied between patients with LM and those with BM, at 69.23% vs. 44%, 30.77% vs. 20%, and 28.85% vs. 12%, respectively. Further exploration revealed that patients with BM with TP53 mutations had a shorter OS than patients without TP53 mutations (p = 0.014). Similarly, patients with LM and TP53 mutations presented with worse OS than those without TP53 mutations (p = 0.0067). LM patients with CDKN2A deletions had worse OS than those without CDKN2A deletions (p = 0.037). Additionally, patients with EGFR_amp had a shorter OS than those without EGFR_amp (p = 0.044). CONCLUSIONS: Patients with LM exhibited significantly worse OS than those with BM. Gene signatures, such as TP53, EGFR_amp, and CDKN2A, may account for shorter outcomes in patients with LM.

ABSTRACT

Eleven previously undescribed sesquiterpenoids (8-18), one undescribed jasmonic acid derivative (35) and 28 known compounds were isolated from the leaves of Artemisia stolonifera. Undescribed compounds with their absolute configurations were determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and ECD calculation. Compound 8 was identified as a rare sesquiterpenoid featuring a rearranged 5/8 bicyclic ring system, whereas compound 17 was found to be an unprecedented monocyclic sesquiterpenoid with methyl rearrangement. Evaluation of biological activity showed that compounds 1-5 and 7 displayed cytotoxicity against six tumor cells. In the meantime, compounds 11, 12, 18 and 35 exhibited inhibitory effects against LPS-stimulated NO production in RAW 264.7 macrophage cells and reduced the transcription of IL-6 and IL-1ß in a dose-dependent manner at 25, 50 and 100 µM. Moreover, the anti-inflammatory-based network pharmacology and molecular docking analyses revealed potential target proteins of 11, 12, 18 and 35.

ABSTRACT

An external cavity wavelength-fiber ring laser (ECWTFL) based on a semiconductor optical amplifier and a combined wavelength scanning filter in the Littrow configuration is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. With the benefit of the combination of an external cavity wavelength filter and a Lyot filter, the laser achieves a single-mode narrow linewidth output with a linewidth of 1.75 kHz. The wavelength tuning range reaches 133 nm, covering the entire S + C band. The proposed ECWTFL is used for demodulation of a fiber EFPI sensor; the result shows that the proposed ECWTFL has the ability to demodulate the small cavity-length FPI sensor.

ABSTRACT

N-Glycosylated heterocycles play important roles in biological systems and drug development. The synthesis of these compounds heavily relies on ionic N-glycosylation, which is usually constrained by factors such as labile glycosyl donors, precious metal catalysts, and stringent conditions. Herein, we report a dehydroxylative radical method for synthesizing N-glycosides by leveraging copper metallaphotoredox catalysis, in which stable and readily available 1-hydroxy carbohydrates are activated for direct N-glycosylation. Our method employs inexpensive photo- and copper- catalysts and can tolerate some extent of water. The reaction exhibits a broad substrate scope, encompassing 76 examples, and demonstrates high stereoselectivity, favoring 1,2-trans selectivity for furanoses and α-selectivity for pyranoses. It also exhibits high site-selectivity for substrates containing multiple N-atoms. The synthetic utility is showcased through the late-stage functionalization of bioactive compounds and pharmaceuticals like Olaparib, Axitinib, and Metaxalone. Mechanistic studies prove the presence of glycosyl radicals and the importance of copper metallaphotoredox catalysis.

ABSTRACT

CO2-to-high value-added chemicals via a photocatalytic route is of interest but strangled by the low efficiency. Herein, a novel Fe-TiO2-x/TiO2 S-scheme homojunction was designed and constructed by using a facile surface modification approach whereby oxygen vacancy (OV) and Fe introducing on the TiO2 nanorod surface. The as-synthesized Fe-TiO2-x/TiO2 S-scheme homojunction exhibits positive properties on promoting photocatalytic CO2 reduction: i) the nanorod structure provides numerous active sites and a radical charge transfer path; ii) the doped Fe and OV not only synergistically enhance light utilization but also promote CO2 adsorption; iii) the Fe-TiO2-x/TiO2 S-scheme homojunction benefits photoexcited charge separation and retains stronger redox capacity. Thanks to those good characters, the Fe-TiO2-x/TiO2 homojunction exhibits superior CO2 reduction performances with optimized CO/CH4 generation rates of 122/22 µmol g-1h-1 which exceed those of pure TiO2 by more than 9.4/7.3 folds and most currently reported catalytic systems. This manuscript develops a facile and universal approach to synthesize well-defined homojunction and may inspire the construction of other more high-efficiency photocatalysts toward CO2 reduction and beyond.

The characteristics of chicken droppings are closely linked to their health status. In prior studies, chicken droppings recognition is treated as an object detection task, leading to challenges in labeling and missed detection due to the diverse shapes, overlapping boundaries, and dense distribution of chicken droppings. Additionally, the use of intelligent monitoring equipment equipped with edge devices in farms can significantly reduce manual labor. However, the limited computational power of edge devices presents challenges in deploying real-time segmentation algorithms for field applications. Therefore, this study redefines the task as a segmentation task, with the main objective being the development of a lightweight segmentation model for the automated monitoring of abnormal chicken droppings. A total of 60 Arbor Acres broilers were housed in 5 specific pathogen-free cages for over 3 wk, and 1650 RGB images of chicken droppings were randomly divided into training and testing sets in an 8:2 ratio to develop and test the model. Firstly, by incorporating the attention mechanism, multi-loss function, and auxiliary segmentation head, the segmentation accuracy of the DDRNet was enhanced. Then, by employing the group convolution and an advanced knowledge-distillation algorithm, a lightweight segmentation model named DDRNet-s-KD was obtained, which achieved a mean Dice coefficient (mDice) of 79.43% and an inference speed of 86.10 frames per second (FPS), showing a 2.91% and 61.2% increase in mDice and FPS compared to the benchmark model. Furthermore, the DDRNet-s-KD model was quantized from 32-bit floating-point values to 8-bit integers and then converted to TensorRT format. Impressively, the weight size of the quantized model was only 13.7 MB, representing an 82.96% reduction compared to the benchmark model. This makes it well-suited for deployment on the edge device, achieving an inference speed of 137.51 FPS on Jetson Xavier NX. In conclusion, the methods proposed in this study show significant potential in monitoring abnormal chicken droppings and can provide an effective reference for the implementation of other agricultural embedded systems.


The characteristics of chicken droppings are closely related to their health. In this study, we developed a lightweight segmentation model for chicken droppings and evaluated its inference speed on the edge device with limited computational power. The results showed that the proposed model exhibits significant potential in the early warning of abnormal chicken droppings, which can help producers implement interventions before disease outbreaks, thereby avoiding great economic losses. Additionally, the model optimization and compression processes proposed in this study can provide an effective reference for the implementation of other embedded systems.

Single immobilization theory cannot fully account for the extensive bone loss observed after spinal cord injury (SCI). Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are crucial in bone homeostasis because they possess self-renewal capabilities and various types of differentiation potential. This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanism of long non-coding RNA H19 in osteoporosis after SCI and provide new research directions for existing prevention strategies. We used small interfering RNA to knockdown H19 expression and regulated miR-29b-2p expression using miR-29b-3p mimetics and inhibitors. Western blotting, real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, Alizarin red staining, alkaline phosphatase staining and double-luciferase reporter gene assays were used to assess gene expression, osteogenic ability and binding sites. lncRNA H19 was upregulated in BMSCs from the osteoporosis group, whereas miR-29b-3p was downregulated. We identified the binding sites between miR-29b-3p and lncRNAs H19 and DKK1. H19 knockdown promoted BMSCs' osteogenic differentiation, whereas miR-29b-3p inhibition attenuated this effect. We discovered potential binding sites for miR-29b-3p in lncRNAs H19 and DKK1. Our findings suggest that long non-coding RNA H19 mediates BMSCs' osteogenic differentiation in osteoporosis after SCI through the miR-29b-3p/DKK1 axis and by directly inhibiting the ß-catenin signalling pathway.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Thoracic spinal epidural abscess (SEA) is a rare but dangerous condition, and traditional surgical methods are accompanied by extensive trauma and approach-related complications. Here we introduce the technique of full-endoscopic transforaminal debridement and decompression and evaluate its feasibility for treating brucellar thoracic SEA. METHODS: We performed thoracic full-endoscopic transforaminal decompression and debridement on two patients with neurological deficits caused by brucellar SEA, which is mainly composed of granulation tissue rather than pus. Postoperative MRI was conducted to confirm the presence of any residual abscess compressing the nerves. Frankel grading was employed to assess the recovery of neurological function, and complications were documented. RESULTS: There were no occurrences of dural tear, postoperative hematoma, or pulmonary complications. Their neurological function had significantly improved after surgery, and postoperative MRI confirmed no residual abscess compressing the spinal cord. During the 2-year follow-up, one patient achieved complete recovery (from Frankel-C to Frankel-E), while another patient improved from Frankel-A to Frankel-D. Neither patient experienced infection recurrence, instability, nor kyphotic deformity. CONCLUSION: We described the novel application of transforaminal endoscopic surgery in brucellar thoracic granulomatous SEA and preliminarily indicated the feasibility of this technique as a minimally invasive alternative to open surgery.

ABSTRACT

Endowing conventional materials with specific functions that are hardly available is invariably of significant importance but greatly challenging. TiO2 is proven to be highly active for the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution while intrinsically inert for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) due to its poor electrical conductivity and unfavorable hydrogen adsorption/desorption behavior. Herein, the first activation of inert TiO2 for electrocatalytic HER is demonstrated by synergistically modulating the positions of d-band center and triggering hydrogen spillover through the dual doping-induced partial phase transition. The N, F co-doping-induced partial phase transition from anatase to rutile phase in TiO2 (AR-TiO2|(N,F)) exhibits extraordinary HER performance with overpotentials of 74, 80, and 142 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2 in 1.0 M KOH, 0.5 M H2SO4, and 1.0 M phosphate-buffered saline electrolytes, respectively, which are substantially better than pure TiO2, and even superior to the benchmark Pt/C catalysts. These findings may open a new avenue for the development of low-cost alternative to noble metal catalysts for electrocatalytic hydrogen production.

ABSTRACT

We sequenced and analyzed the complete mitochondrial genome of Lentipes ikeae and explored the phylogenetic relationships among Sicydiinae based on mitochondrial genome sequences. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of L. ikeae was determined using the Illumina HiSeq X Ten sequencing platform, and the gene structural characteristics and base composition were analyzed. Based on the mitochondrial genome sequences of 28 Sicydiinae species published in GenBank and mitochondrial protein-coding genes (PCGs), Acanthogobius flavimanus (Gobionellinae) was selected as an outgroup to construct phylogenetic trees of Sicydiinae using the maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference methods. The mitochondrial genome of L. ikeae (GenBank number: OP764680) has a total length of 16,498 bp and encodes 13 PCGs, 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and a D-loop (control) region. Gene rearrangement is not observed. The mitochondrial genome of L. ikeae exhibits an AT preference, with AT skew > 0 and GC skew < 0 across the entire genome. The phylogenetic relationships of Sicydiinae based on 13 mitochondrial PCG sequences are Sicydium + (Stiphodon + (Sicyopus + Lentipes)) + Sicyopterus, indicating that Sicydium, Sicyopterus, Lentipes, and Stiphodon are all monophyletic groups.

ABSTRACT

Metal-halide perovskite thin monocrystals featuring efficient carrier collection and transport capabilities are well suited for radiation detectors, yet their growth in a generic, well-controlled manner remains challenging. Here, we reveal that mass transfer is one major limiting factor during solution growth of perovskite thin monocrystals. A general approach is developed to overcome synthetic limitation by using a high solute flux system, in which mass diffusion coefficient is improved from 1.7×10-10 to 5.4×10-10 m2 s-1 by suppressing monomer aggregation. The generality of this approach is validated by the synthesis of 29 types of perovskite thin monocrystals at 40-90 °C with the growth velocity up to 27.2 µm min-1. The as-grown perovskite monocrystals deliver a high X-ray sensitivity of 1.74×105 µC Gy-1 cm-2 without applied bias. The findings regarding limited mass transfer and high-flux crystallization are crucial towards advancing the preparation and application of perovskite thin monocrystals.

BACKGROUND: Allergic asthma is a heterogeneous disease and new strategies are needed to prevent or treat this disease. Studies have shown that probiotic interventions are effective in preventing asthma. Here, we investigated the impact of Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii) on ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic asthma in mice, as well as the underlying mechanisms. METHODS: First, we constructed a mouse asthma model using OVA and given S. boulardii intervention. Next, we measured N6-methyladenosine (m6A) levels in lung injury tissues. 16 s rRNA was employed to identify different gut microbiota in fecal samples. The analysis of differential metabolites in feces was performed by non-targeted metabolomics. Pearson correlation coefficient was utilized to analyze correlation between gut microbiota, metabolites and methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3). Finally, we collected mouse feces treated by OVA and S. boulardii intervention for fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) and interfered with METTL3. RESULTS: S. boulardii improved inflammation and oxidative stress and alleviated lung damage in asthmatic mice. In addition, S. boulardii regulated m6A modification levels in asthmatic mice. 16 s rRNA sequencing showed that S. boulardii remodeled gut microbiota homeostasis in asthmatic mice. Non-targeted metabolomics analysis showed S. boulardii restored metabolic homeostasis in asthmatic mice. There was a correlation between gut microbiota, differential metabolites, and METTL3 analyzed by Pearson correlation. Additionally, through FMT and interference of METTL3, we found that gut microbiota mediated the up-regulation of METTL3 by S. boulardii improved inflammation and oxidative stress in asthmatic mice, and alleviated lung injury. CONCLUSIONS: S. boulardii alleviated allergic asthma by restoring gut microbiota and metabolic homeostasis via up-regulation of METTL3 in an m6A-dependent manner.

The number of artificial total hip revision arthroplasties is increasing yearly in China, and >50% of these cases have acetabular defects. Accurately locating and quantifying the bone defect is one of the current challenges of this surgery. Thus, the objective of the present study was to simulate acetabular implantation with the aid of Mimics 17.0 software (Materialise NV) in patients with loosened acetabular prosthesis, to evaluate the 'ideal acetabular center' and the 'actual acetabular center' to guide the choice of prosthesis and surgical method. From January 2017 to June 2021, the present study included 10 hips from 10 patients [seven men (seven hips) and three women (three hips)]. In all patients, the Mimics software was applied to simulate the dislocation of the femoral prosthesis and acetabular prosthesis implantation before surgery; calculate the height difference between the 'ideal acetabular center' and the 'actual acetabular center' to assess the bone defect; confirm the size of the acetabular prosthesis, abduction angle, anteversion angle and bone coverage of the acetabular cup; and measure the intraoperative bleeding and postoperative follow-up Harris score of the hip joint. After statistical analysis, the present study revealed that digital simulation assistance could improve the accuracy of hip revision acetabular prosthesis implantation, reduce postoperative shortening of the affected limb, especially for surgeons with relatively little experience in hip revision surgery, and greatly reduce the occurrence of complications such as hip dislocation because of poor postoperative prosthesis position.

ABSTRACT

A variety of distinct anisotropic exchange interactions commonly exist in one magnetic material due to complex crystal, magnetic and orbital symmetries. Here we investigate the effects of multiple anisotropic exchange interactions on topological magnon in a honeycomb ferromagnet, and find a chirality-selective topological magnon phase transition induced by a complicated interplay of Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interaction and pseudo-dipolar interaction, accompanied by the bulk gap close and reopen with chiral inversion. Moreover, this novel topological phase transition involves band inversion at high symmetry pointsKandK', which can be regarded as a pseudo-orbital reversal, i.e. magnon valley degree of freedom, implying a new manipulation corresponding to a sign change of the magnon thermal Hall conductivity. Indeed, it can be realized in 4dor 5dcorrelated materials with both spin-orbit coupling and orbital localized states, such as iridates and ruthenates,etc.This novel regulation may have potential applications on magnon devices and topological magnonics.
