ABSTRACT

This study presents the design created for the evaluation of the project Neighbourhoods Health Network, developed in the city of Zaragoza, andits main results one year after the implementation of the pilot project. The project’s main objective is to encourage the creation of communityinterventions, adapted to the context and demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the same, with the available community resources, promoting collaboration between the services and entities of the territory. For the evaluation, an adapted matrix was created using the model developed by the State Agency for the Evaluation of Public Policies and theQuality of Services to evaluate the initiative after the first year of its implementation (2019).After analysing the process and the result indicators obtained, it has been possible to reflect the achievement of the different phases of theinitiative and understand the processes that have taken place, as well as identify areas for improvement. ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To gather consensus on professional competencies and basic public health content for the degree program in Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND). DESIGN: In 2018, the Fifth Meeting of University Public Health Professors took place in Zaragoza (Spain). Fourteen lecturers in the HND degree program participated from 11 Spanish universities. They identified competencies and basic content for training for the HND degree using group dynamics and consensus strategies. RESULTS: The professors identified 51 basic competencies, distributed in the areas of "evaluation of population health needs" (n = 20), "development of health policies" (n = 23), and "guaranteeing provision of health care services" (n = 8). In order to reach these competencies, 35 topics were proposed organized into six thematic blocks: foundations of public health, nutritional epidemiology, health problems and diet and nutrition strategies, food security, health in all policies and health promotion and education. CONCLUSION: The consensus reached serves as a reference to orient and update public health education as a part of the HND degree.

ABSTRACT

Background and objective: To validate the MacArthur Competence Assessment Tool for Treatment (MacCAT-T) Spanish version, which assesses the mental capacity of patients to consent treatment, by examining 4 areas (Understanding, Appreciation, Reasoning and Expressing a choice). Patients and method: Sample: 160 subjects (80 Internal Medicine inpatients, 40 Psychiatric inpatients and 40 healthy controls). Instruments: MacCAT-T, Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE). Procedure: Feasibility study, reliability and validity calculations (against to gold standard of clinical expert). Results: Mean duration of the MacCAT-T interview was 18 min. Inter-rater reliability: Intraclass correlation coefficient for Understanding = 0.98, Appreciation = 0.97, Reasoning = 0.98, Expressing a choice = 0.91. Internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha): Understanding = 0.87, for Appreciation = 0.76, for Reasoning = 0.86. Patients considered to be incapable (gold standard) scored lower in all the MacCAT-T areas. Poor performance on the MacCAT-T was related to cognitive impairment assessed by MMSE. Conclusions: Spanish version of the MacCAT-T is feasible, reliable, and valid for assessing the capacity of patients to consent treatment (AU)
