ABSTRACT

The number of people who travel internationally with their pets is increasing. Consequently, veterinarians around the world are more likely to encounter parasitic diseases formerly restricted to certain geographical locations. The purpose of this report is to describe a case of tungiasis, a disease caused by the sand flea Tunga penetrans, in a dog imported from Brazil to Denmark. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of canine T. penetrans infestation in Scandinavia.
