ABSTRACT

The velocity of absorption of GABA and its derivative picamilon carbon-labelled by isolated bovine retina has been studied. It is shown that maximal velocity of GABA and picamilon absorption falls at the second incubation minute, then it decreases. In all the cases the picamilon absorption velocity is higher than the GABA absorption velocity. With an increase of concentration in the incubation medium of the labeled preparation under study the absorption velocity of GABA remains practically unchanged, while that of picamilon slightly increases.

ABSTRACT

Main principals of metrology of measurement being conducted in research studies and in practice of ophthalmologists are stated. Characteristics of casual and systematic errors are described and their causes explained. Concrete measures for increasing the accuracy of ophthalmologic measurements are proposed: coordination of works in research institutes and chairs of ophthalmological profile and metrologic organizations of the state standard on metrologic provision; publication of papers devoted to the methods of treatment of measurement results; introduction of foundations of metrology into the program of education for refreshment courses of physicians-ophthalmologists.

ABSTRACT

The action of membranotropic preparations--mildronat and phosphaden on the course of a severe burn process of the cornea with changes in lysosomal membranes revealed in pathogenesis has been studied in 80 rabbits. As a marking lysosomal enzyme, acid phosphatase was used. Besides this, peculiarities of the clinical course of the burn process have been studied, when treated by common methods and in a complex with the mentioned preparations. The results of the study have shown expressed stabilizing action of the preparations on lysosomal membranes of the cornea in early terms of the treatment, correlative relationship between results of biochemical investigations and clinical manifestations of the action of membranotropic preparations, high effectiveness of therapeutic action of mildronat as compared with phosphaden. The results obtained can serve as a foundation for the usage of the preparations in complex treatment of patients with severe chemical burns of the eye.

ABSTRACT

On the grounds of results of observations over 1642 patients with eye traumas and their outcomes a system of dispensary observation over patients with this pathology has been worked out. Main groups of patients with outcomes after eye traumas requiring dispensarization are determined: sequelae after trauma of the protective system and eye adnexa, cornea, iris, lens, vitreous body, retina, intraocular foreign bodies, post-traumatic disturbances in intraocular pressure, changes in the retina and optic nerve, traumatic uveitis and sympathetic ophthalmia at the stage of remission. Terms, incidence and tasks of dispensarization of such patients are worked out. The developed system of dispensarization of persons with sequelae after eye traumas allows to conduct their planned treatment, prevents development of complications, progression of the pathologic process, promotes to decide questions on getting a job.

ABSTRACT

The paper is concerned with the results of experimental investigation of the effect of different microwave radiation ranges on some segments of the rabbit's eye and its clinical application to the treatment of malignant tumors of the lid and orbit. It has been shown that the effect of definite microwave radiation ranges on the rabbit's eye, while ensuring necessary conditions for local hyperthermia (43-45 degrees C), does not cause clinically visible changes in the refractive media and fundus of the eye during 3 months after irradiation. The results of effective combined therapy of advanced malignant tumors of the lid and orbit in 5 patients are presented. Our experience in using definite ranges of local microwave radiation for therapy of malignant eye tumors has shown the feasibility, prospects and relative safety of the method in cancer ophthalmology.
