ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of nasal mucosa-derived ectodermal mesenchymal stem cells (NM-EMSCs) on the inflammatory state of rats with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and the underlying therapeutic mechanism. METHODS: NM-EMSCs were isolated and extracted to construct a rat model of CRS. Fifteen Sprague‒Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into three groups: CK + NS group rats were injected locally with saline in the nasal mucosa; CRS + NS group rats were injected locally with saline in the nasal mucosa; and CRS + EMSCs group rats were injected locally with NM-EMSCs in the nasal mucosa. One rat from the CRS + EMSCs group was randomly euthanized at 2, 4, and 6 days after injection, and the nasal mucosa tissues were collected for HE staining, Masson's trichrome staining, and periodic acid-Schiff staining. RESULTS: NM-EMSCs specifically expressing CD73, CD105, and CD90 were successfully isolated from the nasal mucosa of rats and were able to differentiate into adipocytes, osteoblasts, and chondrocytes. After saline and NM-EMSC injection, compared with those in the blank control CK + NS group, the nasal mucosa in the CRS + NS and CRS + EMSC groups exhibited obvious thickening, a large amount of inflammatory cell infiltration, and increased collagen and mucin distribution. Four days post-NM-EMSC injection, the thickening of the nasal mucosa in the CRS group was gradually alleviated, the inflammatory cell infiltration gradually decreased, and the distribution of collagen and mucin and the collagen-positive area gradually decreased. Moreover, only a small number of inflammatory cells were visible, and the distribution of mucins was limited to 6 days post-NM-EMSC injection. CONCLUSION: NM-EMSCs effectively attenuated inflammation in the nasal mucosa of CRS model rats.

ABSTRACT

Squamous cell carcinomas predominate in laryngeal malignancies, while spindle cell tumors, typically derived from non-epithelial tissues, are uncommon, accounting for 0.3%-1% of all malignant laryngeal tumors. Low-grade malignant myofibroblastic sarcoma (LGMS) is an extremely rare, atypical myofibroblastic tumor classified as a spindle cell tumor that primarily affects the head and neck region. There have been few reports in the literature regarding the LGMS of the larynx. LGMS of the larynx was discovered during a pathological biopsy. There was no recurrence during the 6-month follow-up after the total laryngectomy.

ABSTRACT

With the rapid development of distributed energy resources and natural gas power generation, multi-energy microgrid (MEMG) is considered as a critical technology to increase the penetration of renewable energy and achieve the target of carbon emission reduction. Therefore, this paper proposes a low-carbon economic dispatch model for MEMG to minimize the daily operation cost by considering integrated demand response (IDR) and multistep carbon trading. Specifically, IDR operation includes shifting of shiftable electric load, adjusting of flexible thermal load and cooling load, and it is employed to decrease operation cost. Besides, the multistep carbon trading means that different carbon trading prices correspond to different carbon trading volumes, which is applied to stringently restrict carbon emission. The simulation results show that the proposed model can effectively reduce the carbon emission while greatly decrease the operation cost.

ABSTRACT

Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMC) is a rare tumor that occurs mainly in the major salivary glands. Cases occurring in the nasal cavity are rarely reported. The patient was a 48-year-old woman with a postoperative pathological diagnosis of EMC. The patient recovered well after surgery. We consulted and summarized all previous cases of nasal EMC. We also discuss the clinical presentation, treatment, and prognosis of EMC of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses.

ABSTRACT

This exploration primarily aims to jointly apply the local FCN (fully convolution neural network) and YOLO-v5 (You Only Look Once-v5) to the detection of small targets in remote sensing images. Firstly, the application effects of R-CNN (Region-Convolutional Neural Network), FRCN (Fast Region-Convolutional Neural Network), and R-FCN (Region-Based-Fully Convolutional Network) in image feature extraction are analyzed after introducing the relevant region proposal network. Secondly, YOLO-v5 algorithm is established on the basis of YOLO algorithm. Besides, the multi-scale anchor mechanism of Faster R-CNN is utilized to improve the detection ability of YOLO-v5 algorithm for small targets in the image in the process of image detection, and realize the high adaptability of YOLO-v5 algorithm to different sizes of images. Finally, the proposed detection method YOLO-v5 algorithm + R-FCN is compared with other algorithms in NWPU VHR-10 data set and Vaihingen data set. The experimental results show that the YOLO-v5 + R-FCN detection method has the optimal detection ability among many algorithms, especially for small targets in remote sensing images such as tennis courts, vehicles, and storage tanks. Moreover, the YOLO-v5 + R-FCN detection method can achieve high recall rates for different types of small targets. Furthermore, due to the deeper network architecture, the YOL v5 + R-FCN detection method has a stronger ability to extract the characteristics of image targets in the detection of remote sensing images. Meanwhile, it can achieve more accurate feature recognition and detection performance for the densely arranged target images in remote sensing images. This research can provide reference for the application of remote sensing technology in China, and promote the application of satellites for target detection tasks in related fields.
