ABSTRACT

An algorithm for numerical simulation of time-frequency energy distribution of chirped Gaussian laser beams during amplification is proposed. The algorithm is based on a time-frequency description of laser radiation by the Wigner distribution function and the concept of a physical spectrum, which allows one to use the photon transfer equation for modeling the evolution of space, energy, and spectra characteristics of laser radiation. A comparison of the numerical simulation results and experimental measurements of laser radiation characteristics in a XeF(C-A) gas amplifier of a THL-100 hybrid laser system confirmed the applicability of the proposed model.

ABSTRACT

In experimental-morphological study on 6 dogs the dynamics of regenerate formation in ulna and mandible defects after implantation in them composite material of different density (0.46-0.50 and 0.38-0.42 g/cm(3)) of polylactide (PL) origin filled with HAP was followed at the terms of 6 and 9 months. Histologic study and structural determinant distribution analysis in the content of regenerate showed that optimal results according to the bone defect substitution by bone regenerate criterion at 9th month of the experiment were received after composite material from PL and HAP with the density of 0.38-0.42 g/cm(3) implantation. Newly formed trabecular bone tissue was seen in the regenerate and as well as strong tendency for bone matrix maturation. It was confirmed by the appearance of lamellar structures in newly formed bone trabecules situated in peripheral zones of bone defect. In bone mandible defects the substitution process of the implants from PL with HAP by the bone tissue was much slower than in ulna defects.

ABSTRACT

There were shown technique and clinical examples of the use of directional tissue regeneration in cases of bone tissue deficit in distal parts maxilla. Clinical cases were described of maxillary sinus bottom lifting with simultaneous alveolar process widening and single stage implant installation.

ABSTRACT

Near-diffraction-limited laser beams of high energy have been achieved with a long-pulse (110-ns) XeCl laser fitted with a super-Gaussian unstable cavity of magnification M = 2.7. It has been found that when the super-Gaussian output coupler is replaced with a hard-edge aluminized mirror of radius equal to the super-Gaussian mirror spot size, the output laser energy is reduced by 10%, whereas the beam divergence increases more than 50%.

ABSTRACT

The authors analyze the efficacy of treatment of 162 patients suffering from psoriatic arthritis in Evpatoria health resort. The treatment modalities included brine baths, mud applications, climatotherapy, etc. Clinical cure or considerable improvement has been achieved in 21.8% of patients, improvement in 74.3%, no therapeutic effect in 3.9%. Along with alleviation of the clinical manifestations of psoriatic arthritis, a number of immunological and biochemical parameters (albumin, lysozyme, IgM levels) have shown a tendency to normalization. The combined health resort therapy is an effective means of the after-care of psoriatic arthritis.

ABSTRACT

Parameters providing qualitative estimation of the cephalosporin C-producing organism seed material were studied. Before inoculation of the fermentation medium the seed material should have the maximum respiration intensity, maximum specific growth rate and not less than 15 per cent of the biomass.

ABSTRACT

A scheme for automatic impulse foam breaking during biosynthesis of cephalosporin C in 0.63 m3 pilot plant fermenters was developed and tested. It was shown that the use of an aerodynamic foam breaker did not limit the antibiotic biosynthesis by oxygen and promoted stabilization of the foam level in the apparatus without chemical antifoamers and increased air supply.

ABSTRACT

The study on the relation between the production of gentamicin and the conditions of aeration and agitation of the fermentation broth showed the advisability of the control of these parameters with respect to the maximum rate of the oxygen uptake. Possible scaling-up of the process of gentamicin biosynthesis was shown with the use of the expression: (formula: see text).

ABSTRACT

The development of the seed mycelium at various stages and temperatures was studied with the method of methylene blue decolorization characterizing the respiration level of the culture and its oxidation-reduction (dehydrogenase) activity. Relationship between the time of methylene blue decolorization by the seed mycelium, the quantity of the inoculum transferred from one stage to the other and the temperature of cultivation was shown. The seed mycelium decolorizing methylene blue within 2 minutes was most productive at the biosynthetic stage irrespective of the growth period, biomass volume, cultivation temperature and volume of the inoculum transferred from one stage to the other.

ABSTRACT

The method of differential centrifugation in the sucrose density gradient (SDG) enabled one to trace the changes in the development of the seed and fermentation mycelium of the gentamicin-producing organism. Correlation between gentamicin distribution in the SDG and the culture productivity was found. It was shown that the culture grown under the optimal aeration and agitation conditions was characterized by formation of higher amounts of the mycelium in the 5th and 6th layers of the SDG. Such mycelium was more productive than that from the other SDG layers. The most productive 48-hour seed culture had the more significant part of the mycelium in the 3rd layer of the SDG. When such a culture had the more significant part of the mycelium in the 3rd layer of the SDG. When such a culture was used as the seed material, the activity of the fermentation broth was the highest. The method of differential centrifugation in the SDG provides determination of the culture productivity by the volumes of the fermentation mycelium in the 5th and 6th layers or the seed mycelium in the 3rd layer of the SDG.
