Do Oblique Cyclic Loads Influence the Tensile Strength of Different Morse Taper Connection Abutments?

PURPOSE: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the behavior of abutments attached to Morse taper connection implants, with and without internal index, against oblique cyclic loads. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty test pieces composed of abutments connected to Morse taper implants solely by friction action were subdivided into two groups (n = 10): group NI (no index) and group I (index). The test units were submitted to tensile tests, before and after cycling loads. Paired t tests were used for intragroup data at different times, and independent t tests were used for the comparisons between the groups. RESULTS: There was a statistically significant difference in both the groups when the precycling and postcycling tensile values were compared. In the comparison between the no index and index groups, there was no statistically significant difference in precycling and postcycling tests. CONCLUSION: Within the limitations of this in vitro study, it can be concluded that the cyclic loads increased the tensile strength of abutments on Morse taper implants regardless of the index presence. On the other hand, the presence of an index did not significantly alter the values of tensile tests, before and after cyclic loads.

Procedimentos para o reaproveitamento de prótese tipo protocolo de carga imediata após a perda de implantes / Rescue procedures for immediate loading

A utilização de cirurgias guiadas e barras protéticas pré-fabricadas estabeleceu uma opção terapêutica, rápida, barata e eficiente para a reabilitação total da mandíbula com carga imediata. Entretanto, a possibilidade de insucesso na osseointegração dos implantes e o conseqüentecomprometimento da prótese não foram eliminados. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar e definir uma seqüência de passos clínicos e laboratoriais, através da qual foi possível a reinstalação de implantes e o reaproveitamento de uma prótese tipo protocolo mandibular.

Guia tomográfica para o planejamento protético-cirúrgico do sistema Neopronto® / Tomographic stent for the surgical-prosthetic planning of the Neopronto® system

A constante busca pela redução do período de osseointegração faz com que novas técnicas cirúrgicas e protéticas sejam idealizadas. O sistema Neopronto (Neodent - Curitiba - Brasil) utiliza uma guia cirúrgica pré-fabricada que orienta a instalação dos implantes, possibilitando a imediata instalação, com assentamento passivo, de uma barra, também pré-fabricada, que suportará uma prótese total fixa sobre esses implantes. A técnica é mais precisa, simples e barata se comparada com outras disponíveis, porém deve-se ter cuidado na sua indicação, por ser uma técnica que usa barras padronizadas, evitando complicações nos casos em que a anatomia do rebordo não seja favorável. Este artigo mostra a realização de uma guia tomográfica adequada ao sistema para ser utilizada desde a fase de planejamento, indicando através de marcadores radiopacos o futuro posicionamento dos implantes, até as fases finais de confecção da prótese, aplicando-se o conceito de guia multifuncional
