ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE: To isolate and identify the chemical constituents from the whole plant of Pyrethrum tatsienense, which has been used as traditonal herb medicine in the treatment of some diseases. METHODS: The compounds were isolated by column chromatography and their structures were elucidated through spectroscopic analysis (NMR). RESULTS: Six compounds were isolated and identified as: linoeic acid, pinoresinol, (+)-pinoresinol-4'-O-beta-D- glucopyranoside, betulabuside A, dihydrosyringin. CONCLUSION: All these compounds were obtained from Pyrethrum tatsienense for the first time.

THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: (2S*,3S*,4R*,5R*,9S*,11S*,15R*)-5,15-diacet-oxy-3-nicotino-yloxy-14-oxolathyra-6(17),12(E)-diene], C(30)H(37)NO(7), was isolated from the seeds of Euphorbia lathyris. The tricyclic diterpenoid molecule contains an 11-membered ring, a five-membered ring exhibiting an envelope conformation and a three-membered ring. The 11-membered ring is cis-fused with the three-membered ring and trans-fused with the five-membered ring.
ABSTRACT
p-Nitrobenzoyl tetramethylguanidine and m-nitrobenzoyl tetramethylguanidine were synthesized by simple methods. Their main IR and Raman spectra were measured, quantum-calculated, and assigned by the program Gaussian 98. The results showed that the theoretical spectra were in good agreement with the experimental ones, and can be used as a guidance in the interpretation of experimental spectra.

Two novel and eight known triterpenoids were isolated from alcoholic extract of the whole plant of Pyrethrum tatsienense. The structures of new compounds were elucidated as olean-12-en-3beta,11alpha,16beta-triol-3-O-palmitate (1), ursa-12-en-3beta,11beta,16beta-triol-3-O-palmitate (2) by spectroscopic methods including intensive 2D NMR techniques (H1-H1 COSY, gHMQC, gHMBC) and FAB-MS, and the known compounds were identified on the basis of comparing their NMR data with those of corresponding compounds in the literature.

OBJECTIVE: To study the water-soluble chemical constituents in root of Achyranthes bidentata. METHOD: The chemical constituents were isolated by silica gel column chromatography and the structures were elucidated by the NMR spectra and physico-chemical properties. RESULT: Seven compounds were obtained and identified as n-butyl-beta-D-fructopyranoside (I), oleanoic acid (II), 3-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl], oleanoic acid 28-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (III), allantoin (IV), 20-hydroxy ecdysone (V), glutamic acid (VI), 3-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl], oleanoic acid 28-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester (VII). CONCLUSION: Compounds III-VII were obtained from this plant for the first time.

OBJECTIVE: To study the constituents of volatile oil from Ocimum basilicum. METHOD: GC-MS technique was used. RESULT: Forty-five compounds was elucidated through consulting literature and searching database by computer. CONCLUSION: The main constituent in volatile oil from O. basilicum are 1, 7-dimethyl-1, 6-octadien-3-ol, which accounts for 29.87%.
