ABSTRACT

A concise and efficient method for the synthesis of 7-hydroxy-6H-naphtho[2,3-c]coumarin using available 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2-phenylethanone and Meldrum's acid has been developed. This transformation involved a tandem aldol reaction/lactonization/Friedel-Crafts reaction to form a lactone ring and a benzene ring. It showed high atom economy with water and acetone as the byproducts. Mechanism studies demonstrated two roles of Meldrum's acid: (i) as the reagent for the tandem reaction, and (ii) as the catalyst for the Friedel-Crafts reaction. Moreover, the hydroxyl group of 7-hydroxy-6H-naphtho[2,3-c]coumarin was further functionalized efficiently by arylethynyl, aryl, and cyano groups to furnish D-π-A compounds with excellent fluorescence emissions (ΦF = 0.14-0.78).

ABSTRACT

The synthesis of hierarchically mesoporous polymers with multiple functionalities is challenging. Herein we reported a template-free strategy for synthesis of phenolic azo-polymers with hierarchical porous structures based on diazo-coupling reaction in aqueous solution under mild conditions. The resultant polymers have surface areas up to 593 m(2) g(-1) with the mesopore ratio of >80 %, and a good ability to complex with metal ions, such as Cu(2+) , Zn(2+) ,Ni(2+) , achieving a metal loading up to 26.24 wt %. Moreover, the polymers complexed with Zn showed excellent performance for catalyzing the reaction of CO2 with epoxide, affording a TOF of 2570 h(-1) in the presence of tetrabutyl ammonium bromide (7.2 mol %). The polymer complexed with Cu could catalyze the oxidation of alcohol with high efficiency.

ABSTRACT

Ultrathin two-dimensional (2D) crystalline materials show high specific surface area (SA) of high energy (HE) facets, imparting a significant improvement in their performances. Herein we report a novel route to synthesize TiO2 nanofilms (NFs) with atomic thickness (<2.0 nm) through a solvothermal reaction mediated by the hydrogen-bonding networks constructed by hydroquinone (HQ). The resultant TiO2 NFs have nearly 100 % exposed (001) facets and give an extremely high SA up to 487 m(2) g(-1) . The synergistic effect of HQ and choline chloride plays a vital role in the formation of TiO2 NFs and in the exposure of HE (001) facets. Because of its ultrathin feature and exposed (001) facet, the N2 -annealled TiO2 NFs showed fast kinetics of lithium insertion/extraction, demonstrating foreseeable applications in the energy storage.

ABSTRACT

Azo-functionalized MOPs (Azo-MOPs) were synthesized via oxidative polymerization of aromatic amines catalyzed by t-BuOCl/NaI (25 °C, 1 h, yield: >95%), which displayed an excellent coordinating ability with a Ru complex. The resulting Ru-coordinated Azo-MOPs displayed high CO2 capacity and high performances for catalyzing the methylation of amines with CO2 under low pressure (0.5 MPa).

ABSTRACT

Fluorinated microporous organic polymers (F-MOPs) were designed, showing twice higher CO2 adsorption capacity than corresponding non-fluorous MOPs. The incorporation of phenanthroline moieties into F-MOPs afforded them the ability to coordinate with Ag(I), and the resultant F-MOP-Ag(I) displayed high efficiency for the reaction of CO2 with propargyl alcohols to form α-alkylidene cyclic carbonates at 25 °C.

ABSTRACT

A rapid and special supported liquid-liquid extraction (SLE) column was developed with a composite diatomite material. The SLE column was evaluated by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with acidic, neutral and alkaline compounds dissolved in water. Furthermore, some real complex samples were also analyzed by HPLC with the SLE method. The recoveries of benzoic acid (acidic), p-nitroaniline (alkaline) and 4-hydroxy-benzoic methyl ester (neutral) treated by the SLE column were 90.6%, 98.1% and 97.7%. However, the recoveries of the three compounds treated by traditional liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) method were 71.9%, 81.9% and 83.9%. The results showed that the SLE technique had higher recoveries than the traditional LLE method. The spiked recoveries of the complex samples, such as benzoic acid in Sprite and dexamethasone acetate, chlorphenamine maleate, indomethacin in bovine serum, were between 80% and 110% and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were less than 15%. For biological specimen, the results could be accepted. Meantime, many disadvantages associated with traditional LLE method, such as emulsion formation, didn't occur using SLE column. The SLE column technique is a good sample preparation method with many advantages, such as rapid, simple, robust, easily automated, high recovery and high-throughput, which would be widely used in the future.
