ABSTRACT
Hepatitis B-antigen (HBsAg) was detected in 46.4% of 97 patients with acute viral hepatitis seen at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. The mode of infection was not clear in the majority of cases. It is concluded that type-B hepatitis infection is a frequent cause of viral hepatitis in Nigeria.
