ABSTRACT

Results of computerised analysis of cardiotocograms obtained in the group of 21 pregnancies complicated by idiopathic oligohydramnios are presented in the study. Amnioinfusion procedures were administered serially in local anesthesia with ultrasound and colour Doppler control on the base of oligohydramnios criteria by Phelan. The analysis was based on KOMPOR software created by ITAM Zabrze based on PC computer connected to Hewlett-Packard Series 50A cardiotocograph. Significant short-term variability increase just after amnioinfusion procedure from 5.55 ms to 8.24 ms and after 24 hours up to 7.25 ms was found, while significant long-term variability values changes were not observed.

ABSTRACT

Retrospective analysis of ultrasonographic examinations in 81 women who delivered newborns with congenital malformations was performed. Totally 147 anatomical defects in 83 newborns were found. 85 of 147 abnormalities (57.8%) were detected prenatally, most commonly (79.6%) in the third-trimester. All cases of coverings defects, as well as, all cases of anencephaly were diagnosed with ultrasonography. Malformations of urinary tract in 94.4%, central nervous system in 82.9%, osteoarticular system in 30%, heart defects in 27.8% and face abnormalities in 21.4% were already sonographically visualized before birth.

ABSTRACT

UNLABELLED: The study was performed in 116 pregnant women after ovulation induction in 1995-1999. The pregnancy outcome was analysed. In 92 of 116 women (79.3%) successful outcome ("home taken baby") was observed. In 56 of them (60.9%) spontaneous delivery took place, in 4 (4.3%) women birth with vacuum extractor was performed, and in 32 (34.8%) caesarean section was done. In 24 of 116 women (20.7%) the pregnancy outcome was unsuccessful. In 12 of them (10.3%) missed abortion, and in 7 women (6%) spontaneous abortion was observed. 2 patients (1.7%) had caesarean section (in 24th and in 29th week of gestation) because of preeclampsia. One birth (0.9%) was premature because of the cervical incompetency. CONCLUSIONS: The pregnancy outcome in women after ovulation induction is frequently (20.7%) unsuccessful. The delivery in patients after ovulation induction frequently (34.8%) takes place with caesarean section.

ABSTRACT

Results of premature rupture of membranes treatment including administration of continuous amnioinfusion procedure using amniotal catheter in 18 pregnancies between 23 and 28 weeks of gestation are presented in the study. Only a few early treatment complications and high rate of clinical success in the aspect of fetal surveillance were found. Clinical evidence of intra-amniotal infection after 2-6 weeks of therapy had become cesarean section cause in most cases of the study group. Authors have observed 17 live birth (one case of placental ablation excluded) with birth weight in the range of 950-2210 g (1540 +/- 230 g) with Apgar score 5-7. In the early neonatal period 7 cases of intensive care and 2 neonatal deaths were found.

ABSTRACT

We report the computer control system of simultaneous monitoring of cardiotocography and pulse oximetry during labour. Five of twenty five patients have abnormal CTG results with oxygen saturation over 30%. In the three subjects severe late decelerations were related with decrease of saturation to 20%. Mean SaO2 measurements ranged from 62% at the early stage of labour to 45% in the second stage. We conclude that fetal pulse oximetry plays important complementary role among methods of intrapartum monitoring and it will be used in every case with suspicious or pathological CTGm.

ABSTRACT

Zinc concentration in human semen was studied on the material of 106 male patients aged 20-35, from childless marriages. Full microscopic examination was performed including number of spermatozoons, mobility, fluxing time, pH, morphological composition, number of leucocytes. Zinc level was measured using spectrophotometric analysis. Trial of relation estimation between zinc concentration and number of live spermatozoons and pH of the semen was taken out. Any significant differences between zinc concentration in the semen from normospermic and oligospermic males were found. There was proved, that semen pH increase was correlated to zinc concentration decrement in the semen fluid.

ABSTRACT

On the basis of anthropometric data from 2985 newborns in Silesia, percentile grids were constructed of birth weight, height, head circumference, and chest circumference for boys, girls, and both sexes jointly. It was found that these parameters, especially in premature babies, were lower in comparison to those accepted for the whole country.
